re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello. :)

I'm glad to find a place that people share the same interest that I do. It's hard to find, what people might find normal since all my life my family and friends don't get why I love props and where and how movies are made. I think I finally found my place and thank you for the warm welcome.

OK.... been making spidey and other dye-sub suits for about 4 - 5 years I think. Taught myself how to use a CNC mill after buying one.. always fun to learn on the job. Now I want to make a bigger CNC so can mill life size creations / costumes. I have a basic website Spidey4fun that shows some of the stuff I've made. oh.. I got a wife and kid... and a real job to pay the bills. :) Opps... nearly forgot... name is Brad.

Greetings all! I know many of you already from other sites and forums but this is my first time posting here on the RPF, well actually my 2nd post. (I was unable to find the "newb" thread until now :$)

I'm generally known as "The Guyver Guy", not by choice, that's just the name that stuck, and I run the BioWeapons.com website. I've been making all kinds of junk for a long time, and hope to be able to make a lot more junk in the future. Visited this site many times in the past to peep all the cool toys ya'll make. Figured its about time I signed up.

I don't consider myself a model builder, but I love props and Studio Scale stuff. I've been lurking for awhile and have seen such great work here, that I can't resist anymore. I'm going to dive in and hopefully not break anything.

Hi. I'm Spencer. I'm 20 years old, and have just recently gotten back into making props. I started when I was 12 or 13 doing little things like repainting, small mods, hardware lightsabers, stuff like that. As I got older I got into doing my own projects and doing the molding/casting process. I had a few hectic years and have now finally gotten back into the swing of things.

Lately I have taken interest in Power Rangers/Super Sentai props. Though I of course like Star Trek, Star Wars, and various other franchises. I've joined a few other prop boards in the past, though I've only ever lurked around here. I was glad to make an account today and officially join the community. Looking forward to it. :)

~Spencer

Edit: Oh! I forgot, here's a link to my site. Still a work in progress, but I will be posting my projects as I work on and finish them.

Hello folks, Ian, a British ex-pat living in Washington D.C. Here to learn and get ideas, interested in close-up magic and physical effects which plays in pretty well with props and making the unbelievable believable.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hiya. I'm Drew from SoCal. I've been a member for a little over a month and an off-and-on visitor for a couple of years. I'm primarily in SW costuming, but I'm working on branching out a little. I'm mostly here to get ideas on how to build new props and prop making devices (molds, vacuforming, etc). Two non-SW costumes I plan to build are the Rocketeer and a Vault Dweller. Thanks for making such a great resource :) Cheers!

Hello. My name is Aaron and I live in central Oklahoma. I found these forums a couple of years ago when my son was asking me to make some costumes for him to play in. My biggest project to date has been an ANH style Darth Vader lightsaber from plumbing parts, but I have high ambitions.

Hi, my name is John.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there, Kat here. Living it up in sunny sunny Victoria. I'm mostly just a fan of costuming and props, but I want to learn to do it myself. In fact I want to do everything myself, so biting off more than I can chew is almost as bad a habit as my procrastination. Not to mention being a bit ADD about things.
Hopefully being here will teach me some new skills and inspire me to finish what I start.

I am a young prop/costume builder. I have 0 experience and I am trying to practice and learn. I mostly like creating prop/costumes from SuperHero movies and Action films. My favorite movies are Iron Man 1and 2, X-mens, Batman Begins, James Bonds, ETC. I also only have a small budget. Thanks for your time.
Here are some examples of my work:

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi! I found this site because I was looking for (and still am looking for) a legitimate-looking replica of the Quibbler (preferably the Spectrespecs issue, but any issue will do) for a Luna Lovegood costume I am putting together, and google images linked me to a page here where someone showed a preview of one they were working on. I was intrigued by this site and spent a few hours searching and reading and looking...and then decided that I had to join because it is wonderful. I will probably just be one of those people that comments variants of "That's gorgeous!" because I totally lack the time, energy, resources, and ability to create the absolutely wonderful things I have found here in the past few hours, but at least I can support others in their creative endeavors. :)
My collection is practically non-existent as I didn't decide I wanted this to be a hobby until recently, but several years ago someone gave me Arwen's Evenstar necklace. I plan to buy the beautiful stand I found for it today on Noble Collection as soon as possible because right now it just sits in the box since I'm afraid it will get damaged.
I also have the licensed Ravenclaw hat, scarf, and tie.
However, I am going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the fall and I fully intend to increase the size of my collection by a lot. :D

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there,

I don't think I've ever properly introduced myself. My name is Shawn, and I have about a year and a half of experience building props.

All of the props I've built so far have been Ghostbusters themed, and among my proudest achievements was building a movie-accurate proton pack from scratch out of MDF and basswood.

In addition to woodworking skills, I've also been studying electronics for the past six months, and have quickly progressed from building simple circuits powered by 555 timers and constructed on perfboard to highly complex circuits with lights, sound, and motion powered by microcontrollers and mounted on high-quality PCBs.

Eventually, I plan to branch out into building other kinds of props, if I can find a niche that needs to be filled.

I'd also like to get a job building props professionally... But who here wouldn't? :lol

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi gang, my name is Chad and i've been into props for a really long time. Not so much making them but more so appreciating the artistic talent that a lot of you guys and girls posses. I own a few props and love collecting them, my main interest are sci fi and comic book related props. One of these days i'll get the courage to attempt a build of my own...lol.
