Hello everyone. Thanks for allowing me to join this awesome group... A friend of mine is here and has been driving me nuts with all the cool stuff you make. My name is Dave, and while I am not sure if I have the talent to make some of these things, I do enjoy illustrating them. I have worked for paramount, LFL and others doing art for books, mags, etc. I am a half-insane collector of Lilo and Stitch and Stormtrooper stuff (good combo, eh?).

I hope to be able to pick your brains and drool over the cool stuff here.

Thanks again,

--Dave Pipgras

G'day all!
New to the forum obviously.
My background is metal fabrication and CAD. I then progressed into more of a handy man with a passion for watching movies.
Great idea to combine the two, building things from my favourite movies.
Look forward to speaking with as many people as I can to gain valuable skills to improve on what I am doing.
Cheerio!
Big Weld.

Ima new to this forum as well, just had conflicting thoughts on which Ironman suit to build or finish building...
Started on Mark 2 suit about a month ago, done helmet and upper torso, and rigged up the lighting for the eyes...cept helmet doesn't fit me too well...
t'was a pepakura model like all the stuff i have been making...now ill focus on Mark 5 armor (suitcase), of course interweaved around my university schedule, as i am a student in an Interactive arts program...
Hope to meet lotsa SW and IM fans with this forum...^^

Well, i'm Nic. Living (and born) in the netherlands. My interest in propbuilding is not so much related to unbridled fandom
(although i DO have that :)) but because i make props and such for scifi LARP's (Live Action RolePlaying).

When making LARP props i tend to skip a good lot of fine details, the stuff is going to be handled and throw about a lot.
Also, most of my props are rebuilds or adaptations of objects that already exist

In regards to fandom prop lovin', i love Firefly/Serenity, Star Wars, Stargate (series and movie), babylon 5 and Dr Who.

Mostly i want to try making "quality" Firefly props for myself...

Other then that, i'm trying to learn Adobe After Effects en Premiere Pro
so i can add multimedia to my LARP's

Hi, I'm Melissa.
My background is in art, but I've been cosplaying for a number of years. Currently I run a small commission business (mostly anime costumes, wigs and accessories).

I've been trying to expand my skillset by making more complicated costumes for myself, as I believe there is always room to improve and ways to grow. Consequently, I've been lurking here for a while and eagerly devouring all the helpful information here (you guys are awesome!). I'm hoping to gain more knowledge and techniques, and *hopefully* be able to add to the discussion.

Thanks for having me.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,

I want to start off by saying, after a day or two of lurking around this forum, i HAD to register because the amount of talent on here is incredible!

One day i would love to share my own creations on here but i will continue to look around and learn as i go.

My favourite movie is 'The Mask' with Jim Carrey and yeah you guessed it, the Loki Mask is the main reason i came to this site. I have seen many customised Loki Mask's on here and that has given me the inspiration to customise my very own.

So for that i want to say thanks and i hope to settle in soon!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, all...

First, I want to admit to being guilty of "posting before lurking". My enthusiasm got the best of me!

I'm a graphic artist (web designer) that's always had an interest in movies and special effects. My "expertise" lies in the area of special makeup effects - mainly because it's a lot easier to create a convincing rotting zombie than create an accurate full-body costume. Also, my propensity to ignore the "measure twice, cut once" method (I'm more the "eyeball it, and adjust as you proceed") has *not* served me well for accurate renditions.

My one foray into an actual costume build was to create a C-3PO costume a loooong time ago. I fabricated the entire thing from "found" materials, using a few blurry snapshots from the movie as reference. All in all, it was acceptable for the time period it was build (pre-Jurassic).

I found this place via Google, looking for a Geordie LeForge visor - and when I started browsing around I was literally blown away. I'm hoping to learn a lot from you guys, and hopefully I'll discover something I can share as I make my builds.

Halloween has always been a favorite holiday for us. We have the reputation in our town for having the "Coolest House in Town". I was wondering what we could do to out-do last year. I can always fall back on the horror stuff - but if I can build an Iron Man costume, how cool will that be?

Thanks to the owners of this board for creating it! I wish I had found it a long time ago!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings, I'm new here. My arena is costumes but I'm moving very slowly into props. My main MO is paper mache. I've been working with it for the past 7 years and I have made many masks. Lately, my ongoing project is Zoidberg. Tell me what you think.

Hello People,

I'm Jerome, I'm a 28 years old French guy. I discovered this forum when searching Iron Man Mark V suit Infos and pictures.
I found the "Master Le" project then spend a lot of time looking at this forum. Most of the projects I saw are very impressive and this forum look's to be a really Fun community.

I probably will start my own project based on an Iron Man Suitcase Mark V. I suppose all the things i will see here will be very helpfull.

Hi all!

I'm Frank from Portland, Oregon.

I've got a couple projects going at the moment (one of which that was very inspired by these pages.)

I'm building a Tardis wet bar cabinet and a Necronomicon (which will include cocktail recipes written in blood.)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings!

I'm one of those voyeurs-of-the-site types, lurking in the dark and waiting for the day registration would open up. I have zero experience making props and costumes, and only decided recently to take up the hobby myself. Looking forward to joining ongoing discussions, as well as benefiting from the vast knowledge already on the RPF!
