re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
My name's Ben, I'm actively involved in the Ghostbusters and Doctor Who costuming side of things, with plans to branch out further into Sliders, Iron Man possibly a little bit of Colonial Marines, and also a little bit of Shaun of the Dead.

I got into prop-making proper over the course of 2009 during the undertaking of my first significant prop replica, a Ghostbusters Proton Pack. Since then I've been building and learning, and it's eventually led me here.

Hi, I'm Luis—originally from Orange County and now residing in Las Vegas. I've been collecting original, licensed, and fan-made movie props (most of my sabers are by Larbel) since the '90s. My very first prop is an Obi-Wan Kenobi ANH Lightsaber by Icons, and ever since, I've made progression in slowly acquiring memorable props from several movies I am a big fan of such as cult classics like Star Wars, Back To The Future, Indiana Jones, TRON, and more recently Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (and more sci-fi/action flicks too many to mention here). I honestly believe that half the fun of prop collecting is in the hunt for that elusive prop or even just knowledge regarding a nagging detail! Aside from prop collecting, I also enjoy collecting anything anime (charas and mechas), lapel pins and also older Apple equipment. I'm a graphic-web designer by trade with a strong passion for illustration, icon design, logo design and beautiful web sites. When I'm away from my geekstuff, I also enjoy playing drums and doing some track time with my Subaru WRX.

Below are some of my fave props:

Awesome collection Louis!

My name is Eric...I'm a jack of all trades, and I'm looking to build some of my own props. I was looking for info on the Tesla Gun from Warehouse 13 when I stumbled into this forum. Great info here...I have a feeling this hobby is going to be as expensive as any other! LOL

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I'm Mike.
I've always been interested in prop replication, be it from videogames and movies.
Only thing I have right now is Clyde's mask from the game Army of Two, but signed up for these forums specifically for Inception props.
I'm a total beginner, but I can't wait to try my hand out at making a replica PASIV.

I found this forum trying to find some help with my Sucker Punch costume. BTW it's finished !
I want to make Silk Spectre, Quorra and Lady Mechanika's costumes so far, so I'll be round' here for a while.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey!

So obviously I'm new here. A couple of members told me I needed to join RPF because "those people know everything." So... here I am!

What got me interested in this place recently was TRON Legacy. I've actually been commissioned to make somebody Sam's helmet (we're still deciding on the one he wears during the games vs the one on the light cycle). Obviously, there's tons of useful info on here to help me through the process, and I imagine most questions I might come up with will get pretty solid answers from you people.

I also looted through some of the forums for images when I was making my real world Sam Flynn costume last week (it turned out well, especially the chip necklace I based off images I found here). So far, I'd say my time here's off to a darn good start!

Hey everyone!

So I've been a cosplayer for almost 2 years, and I'm really looking to up the quality of my work, I'm just getting into commissions and love big weapons. My aspiration for the year is to do an armor build, either from Monster Hunter or Berserk.

I look forward to talking to everyone and learning what I can from you guys!

I'd like to intro myself. I've been an Artist my whole life, Toy Collector, I sculpt, make molds and cast my own stuff. I like to create Masks, Helmets, armor, weapons and anything organic alien looking.

Last but not least I am a huge Predator Fan which you can see for yourself on my DA website

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good evening, I did wonder if there was one of these threads about.

I'm Adam, I have little to no known skill in making anything but I've had a sudden want to make ... something, currently trying to make something from a comic I enjoy and thread around here give a few tips that help.

So yeah, hello.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone

I'm an engineer and inventor in North Texas who mostly drools at the incredible workmanship on all the props he sees. I like to build UAVs but mine have names like FrankenPlane II (I bet your asking "What was so bad with 'Frankenplane I' that warranted replacement? I mean the name Frankenplane already implies it's a collection of mismatched, ill-fitting, hard-to-look-at parts with little style?" My answer -Don't Ask!)

Where was I? Ahh yes - It is so cool to have found a place to read and learn from practitioners of the secret arts! I hope I can learn and contribute back as I am capable.

Thanks (in advance!) to all!

Paul

Hi Everyone.

I heard of RPF from a youtube video of Adam Savage talking about the Maltese Falcon statue that he was obsessed about. 6 months later I came across the site looking for tips on modifying the tron ID Disc replicas.

I hope I can glean some great fabrication tips from the pros, and that I might be able to help some people out with electronics questions. the EE degree i have has to be useful somewhere. :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings!
I, too, was steered towards RPF by one of Adam Savage's lecture videos. I had run across the site a few years ago, and was reminded of it by Adam's "Maltese Falcon" talk.
I am a Fire B.A.T.- a Firefighting Breathing Air Technician. I service Sperian SCBA and breathing-air compressors of any brand. I am a Monster and costume builder for "Phantom Fright Nights" at Kennywood Park, near Pittsburgh, PA. My characters include a Robot and a Scarecrow, hence the name. I've only made a few "Movie Replica" items, but I've been building original stuff for many years. I'm looking forward to delving into the massive treasure trove of information available here!

Hello everyone

I've always been a fan of film props and costumes, but I've never taken it upon myself to make my own. I found this site and spent a long while going over it and I finally decided to join.
I hope to learn more about making replica props and about film props in general.
:D

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Well, I guess I should introduce myself.

Hey, I'm lightcyclist, but you can call me Nick if you want to.
I'm 16, I love fitness, I can sew, unlike some other people on the internet I can spell, I love anime, and manga.
I'm not new to the prop making scene, me and my brothers have been making movies for as long as I can remember; so I know my way around low budget prop making.
My main MO when it comes to it now is Pepakura, but for the past while I've mostly been doing Halo, and Ironman stuff. Now I'm making a screen accurate, yet low budget Sam Flynn Grid suit, I'm shooting for this thing to be the most accurate suit you'll find on here other than the UD replica (and the fact that since it's low budget I'll be using reflective tape instead of EL tape, but believe me I would be using it if I could. But it's kinda up in the air so I'll burn that bridge when I get to it).
I'm also a pretty big movie buff, and I love tron.
That's pretty much it, for now at least. If you have any questions just ask me.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all, you can guess my main interest by my username, but you can call me Eric if it suits you. I'm currently working on my first prop, the sanskrit cloth from Temple of Doom (the first one Indy holds in the film). I'm a structural, ornamental and reinforcing ironworker by trade, but I've been doing stone masonry lately to pay the bills in these uncertain times. Really inspiring stuff on this site, and I'm curious to see just how obsessed I'll get over replicating props myself, I've got a tendency to really fixate on detail!
