Hey, I'm Steve. I love cosplay and I'm a huge nerd looking to find others interested in prop building. I just started building props and what not but have a few ambitious projects I want o build and will probably be looking for advice and help.

Hey everyone,
I am a Star Trek fan that has been collecting odds and ends since I was a kid. I just recently acquired a few prop kits and I am looking forward to doing some posting about it.

Hello everyone;
Just joined because I found some really good information that helped me in some of my projects. Normally I'm just a silent spectator when it comes to forums but I'm thinking I would like to contribute in some way. Joining was my first attempt but would like to sooner than later post my own projects on here and help people get to the right information.
:)

Hi everyone, I have to say that I am beyond unpressed with the work of so many of the members here. I'm in awe!

Hello, I'm not real sure what this post is supposed to contain... So hello and happy creating.

I Am The Sqoou.
My YouTube channel centers around Gravity Falls conspiracy theories and I've been recreating many of the props from the show to post on Pinterest.
Recently, after learning lots of stuff about photo editing, I finally made the thing I wanted all along.

It took 7 screencaps to be able to build it, then I sent it off to a nearby print shop and hung it on the wall.
It dawned on me that others might want their own copies, so I learned to Etsy ☺

No one bought one...

Turns out they want Love Patrol Alpha.

Who knew? lol

Well good evening all,

I have never in my life posted to a forum, so CONGRATS to the RPF! You sucked me in!

I have caught the crafting bug somehow and am itching to make my hands busy making something. My issue is that I have no idea where to even begin. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I love me some Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and all things Marvel. I give a resounding 'meh' to DC, but must admit, I like the hero logos quite a bit in that world.

My first general question to the crafting world is this.....got any suggestions that won't frustrate the snot out of me or make me hate my cherished franchises?

Thanks all!

Hey all, my name is Austin. I'm from Pensacola, FL. I've been cosplaying and building props for quite a few years. You can check out some of my costumes on my FB page.

Hello,

I am a recent addition to the 501st Legion and the Mando Mercs communities. I am currently waiting on several pieces of armor to come in before I start customizing it. I am looking forward to speaking with everyone and learning all I can from all the builders on here. Thanks again.

Hello!

I had been rummaging around this site for about a year and finally decided to join.

I'm interested in costuming, cosplay, and propmaking. My primary interests, besides donuts and coffee, are all things sci-fi and some anime!!

Kind of new to all this but some of my projects have been a Star Trek original series Romulan helmet and Romulan disruptor. Recently I bought a sewing machine and made a Jedi costume. I plan to create more characters from the Star Wars Universe and maybe a few anime characters.

Hello all New member here, Happened on this website whilst looking for Decals for my airsoft pistols.

Hi there,
I am a german freelance artist and jewelry maker and I'm living in egypt since 10 years. I always loved to craft and draw things of all kind and always loved the work shown in movies, games, books and even museums. I wanted some for my own but since it is kind of impossible to get original stuff, I started making them myself, replicating ancient paintings and jewelry. At first as a loved hobby, now I am almost at the edge to do it as a full time job (yay!). I am still in the "learning phase", learning kind of never stops :) trying to improve my techniques and learn some new tricks. I've done some paper props, paintings and jewelry replica from movies and ancient history and I am looking forward to do some more challenging work in future.

Hi All,

I'm Terry from the SE coast of the UK.
I have been reading this forum for ages and now finally taken the plunge and registered.
I shall be lurking around any threads tagged with "Back to the Future", as I believe them to be the best films ever made and find it incredibly interesting to read all of the info you guys find out about the original props.
Who knows, maybe I'll even try my hand at building something one day :eek

Hi folks!

My name is Will and I live in the Bay Area of California. I'm currently a student studying Mechanical Engineering and love getting my hands dirty in the shop.

I am currently in the process of outfitting my DeLorean to full-on Back to the Future status, so similar to YoureTheDocDoc, I will be spending most of my time on pages related to BTTF props.

Looking forward to becoming part of the community!!

Hey there, I'm from Darwin, Australia and ashamed of how long it's taken me to register. I'm primarily employed as a Stop motion animator but time off work has found me more and more into prop replicas. I have many skills at i would say an average level but like diversifying. i do a lot of Nerf painting, I'm currently on a bit of a steampunk binge (as some of you groan i'm sure!) but just engrossed in the mass of knowledge on this site and have spent many a late night trawling through posts for new ideas and inspiration.

Thanks for having me on board!
Al.

Hello everyone! Only just discovered how much I enjoy prop making as a discipline, and thrilled to be part of this amazing community of makers. I've worked in metal casting and finishing, and am self-taught in wood working. I've very recently started on some leather work and exploring natural dyeing processes. One of my current projects is a wooden replica of Finn the Human's Golden Sword from Adventure Time - hoping to post that soon! Super excited to gain some wisdom, as well as share some insights of my own. Cheers!

Hello.

My name is Jae but everyone I know calls me jaebird. I like it.

My whole life I have been a geek, a nerd or whatever else name you can some as dorky as me. My nerdom comes from my love of comic books. I have always seen myself as a spider-man or batman style hero. Of course now I am old and fat and have always been truly ugly. I guess that is why I loved heros so much because I could wear a mask (jk).

So now that brings me to this site. I wanted to buy and Ironman helmet and found that there was nothing out there that I could buy that wasn't just completely junk. But I found that people like you were making these really cool helmets that had all the bells and whistles and I feel in love. I wondered how you made them and that started me on my YouTube search and thus finally here.

So I guess to get that really cool Ironman helmet I will have to make one myself.

As I immersed myself into this knowledge my old passion for comic books came back to the forefront and has reignited. So now I am interested in seeing how I can not only make this suits and armor and props myself, but maybe, just maybe, turn this into a lucrative business if possible. I do realize that I have a lot of learning to do as far as the artistry goes (I am already a successful business person so I know that end of the dream.)

So I am hoping that I can take a couple of years and learn everything I can and build some cool things along the way and then go from there.

I thank you in advance for all your support and training and I hope that I can contribute back as much as I can to you all when I have the knowledge and skills.

Thanks

Jae Burnham.
