Hey y'all, I've been a lurker for a while and I wanted to officially make a post so I don't get thrown into the junkyard again :p But really, there's so much talent on this board, it'd be a shame to not try a glean a little bit of it.

Hello all! I learned about pepakura and quickly found my way here last month and I must say I am now an addict. There is so much great information and inspiration that I couldn't help but start a couple of my own projects. Thanks everyone.

Hi everyone! After watching Captain America TWS I really wanted to get my hands on a Cap shield. Instead of buying it outright I decided to build one myself and stumbled upon this fantastic site :) Currently pooling together materials and tools to begin working on my shield and hope to learn from all the amazing talent here! Glad to be part of such an awesome community.

Hi Everyone. My name's Jessie (hi Jessie...), and I have a cosplay addiction!!

Been trying to tackle a difficult replica costume for the wedding dress from Catching Fire and I came across this wonderful site.

I just got into cosplaying last year in time for Dragon*Con and I've been hooked ever since. I have lots of ambition and often bite off way more than I can chew, let alone swallow, but I always find a way to get my projects done. Last year, I did an altered Daenerys Targaryen and this year, along with doing Katniss' wedding dress (and mockingjay dress underneath!), I am doing Sophitia from Soul Calibur as well.

I really hope to learn a lot from a community that is as crazy about making replica costumes as I am!

Good day, all. My name is Bill. I am a long time model builder and new to the adventure of preparing and providing props. I have been intrigued by the Detective Special carried by Rick Deckard in "Bladerunner" since I first saw the movie in 1983 or 1984. A little over a year ago, some friends asked me to participate in an ongoing role playing game that they had been conducting. I thought that the Deckard multipistol would be the ideal sidearm for my character. I commenced researching the pistol more diligently and found myself directed to this site. I have been most highly impressed by the breadth of knowledge, creativity, and artistic talent of the board's membership. I find myself in need of that expertise.

The RPG has been a new and exhilirating experience for me. In addition to participating as an actor, I have been presented with the opportunity to demonstrate and share my model building talents through the provision of dioramic props for the gameboard. The RPG has also provided me with the challenge of providing props for the actors. What few that I have had on hand have raised the enthusiasm of the players exponentially. I recently came into possession of what appears to be a resin casting of A Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome variant Colonial Clamshell. It is very much in need of refinishing. I have spent more than ninety minutes with water and sandpaper removing the paint from the flat and unembellished raised surfaces. Paint yet remains in the nooks and crannies of the intricate detailwork of the piece. Can someone recommend how I might go about removing the remaining paint while maintaining and retaining the intricate details of the piece? I would greatly appreciate any assistance that might be offered. Thank you.

Hi, I'm Gerald Sphyderman, I'm from Sydney Australia. I decided a while ago to update my clothes and got some good ideas from this site. Until recently I thought Zentais were the best Sphyder clothes you could buy but you guys changed my mind on that.

Anyway I'm on a budget raising a family of Sphydies on a single income so what I'm doing I'm doing on the cheap. I have already made some improvements which I will share soon. Hopefully I can help others make some good stuff on the cheap too.

This is me back in the day, you can see why improvements are necessary.

Hello all. My name is Mike, I'm a carpenter by trade, and a smart alec as a way of life. I also did time as an Ikea subcontractor where I violated their design intents in ways that would leave customers elated, and designers weeping. If any of you were airsoft players in the Mid-Atlantic region, yeah I'm THAT MessedUpMike. Now that my weekends are free again I'll probably be doing some prop building for some local theater groups, but I'm also looking for some more challenging and unique projects.
Don't mind me, just sniffing

Hi, I'm from Scotland and been lurking on these forums for a few years now back when I was looking into foam builds but never bothered making an account. And then even when I did make an account I never bothered posting much. Didn't even know the Junkyard section existed at the time. But now I know. And knowing is half the battle. Working on an Ultimate Spider-Man suit, Star-Lord suit and Captain America shield right now and these forums are chock-full of useful information for me. What a world we live in.

Hello, Im Timothy. I just recently started to get into cosplaying. I went to megacon a couple months ago and was hooked on all the amazing costumes and now I want one for myself. I am a big fan of comic book superheroes, but I love all things nerd. Star Wars, Halo, etc. I recently bought a zentai spiderman suit cause I don't really know how to make a zentai suit. I know how to sew but lycra is not something I am familiar with. Anyways I am waiting for it to come in and will begin to modify the suit. Mainly going to do the eyes, add soles, and possibly do some puff paint. If anyone has any ideas on any of those, feel free to offer suggestions. Ive just started. After I get this made, I want to start on Captain America. Thanks guys. Looking forward to being a part of this!

Hi folks

New member here. Born in Scotland and lived for last decade in New Zealand. Big Star Wars fan and found this amazingly invaluable site while searching for Han Solo In Carbonite casts etc. That's gonna be my big build this year. Just in process of figuring out how to get them all to sleepy hollow in the south of the globe.. Nice to be here

Hey Folks--

Saw a post from this forum on Facebook and was immediately drawn in. Although I saw the Midwest premiere (a matinee) of the original Star Wars in Chicago in June 1977, I am not a cultist. However, I appreciate craftsmanship and the attention to detail that goes into the making of cult objects. An engineer by day, I moonlight designing and building sets and props for live theatre in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. If I thought I could make a living at it, I'd quit my job and do it full time.

Cheers.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jim and I have collected statues and movie posters for a long time. I found this site looking for Indiana Jones props. This is definately the site to be on. Lots of information and opinions here. I'm in Orlando, FL (home of the mouse) and really enjoy hearing (reading) what all of you have to say.

Thanks for having me....

Hello Everyone,

I've been into model-making for years, but have found myself experimenting more with props and 1:1 scale models for some time.

Of course, I love sci-fi and fantasy, but I'm also very interested in alternate history, with a big emphasis on Weird War and Diesel Punk.

I'm currently on a big Hellboy / BPRD binge at the moment, but I've got lots of my own props and models over on my Deviantart account.

Just a quick note to say hello...

I've been aware of this forum for some time now, and have really enjoyed hearing about (and seeing) all the fabulous work showcased here.

I am a professional prop builder by trade, and although I seldom produce replicas for myself, (it's too much like being at work) I am an avid collector of replica props.

In any case, it's great to be here! Talk to you soon.

Richard

Hello!

I've been watching this website for years, but never felt like I had a good reason to join and contribute anything. Ive finally started planning my first big build after a few smaller ones that I've made over the course of a few years. I've made a TF2 Sandman, an ODST helmet and am hlafway through a Zelda Master sword. I'm hanging out to finish it off and start on my new baby, a Maliwan SMG!!

I'm fascinated by prop-making and the weird challenges and solutions that it creates just like my job in Industrial Design. I'm amazed by what people can do with just MDF and foam and a bit of paint.

Thanks!
