Erm, Hello. I'm Chris from South Jersey... 25, enjoys long walks through the radiation-- oh wait, this isn't a personal ad, sorry. Always been a sci-fi fan (and am a reformed Trekkie) and recently, a bit of a prop maker. Mainly painted Nerf guns and abominations made from discarded computer components, but I've been exceptionally interested in the Pseudo-Victorian styling of Steampunk. Back to the Future 3 may have spawned it, but Jake Von Slatt gave me a name for it. My wandering about the interblag lead me to Adam Savage's TED talks / Maker Faire Interviews. I came for the nerd cred, and stayed for the Farnsworths.

Hello everyone! My name is Sindre. Im 15 years old and live in Norway.
It's great to finaly be a part of the forum!
I've been lurking around for quite some time

My main interest would be to start out in prop collection and costuming mainly "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie props and Jack Sparrow costuming.

I'm still new to all this but I've been in love with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies for 3 years.

I'll do my very best and try to be creative just like the rest of the people in this great forum.

Hiya!

I am a total amateur at building props.

So far I haven't built any actual "prop replicas" per se. Only a couple custom action figures and some other random projects from instructables.com and the MAKE blog.

If I had more money/time I would do nothing else (except maybe read comics and play video games).

I've been a long time lurker on this board (years actually) and I am constantly amazed at the great stuff you guys turn out as well as some of the ingenuity and resourcefulness that comes into play often here.

Hi there, the names BrowncoatKal. I've been a member here for almost a year but haven't posted much and want to begin doing so more often so I figured now was a good time to introduce myself. My handle is an amalgam of two of my passions, Firefly and Superman. I'm very amateur to the prop thing and hope to learn a lot from fellow members. The one prop that I've made that I'm most proud of is a replica of Jayne Cobb's LeMat revolver from Firefly. I dress up as Jayne at some of the conventions I go to and wanted to have a nice replica of his sidearm "Boo". I used a Wilco Models resin kit and am happy with how it turned out. However, now I am looking to make a much more accurate reproduction of Boo, so I have ordered a real metal LeMat reproduction made by the Denix company which I plan on making as screen accurate as possible.
As for actual screen used props, I have Alliance currency used in the movie Serenity, and three series used Metropolis license plates from the Lois and Clark TV series. I am particularly fond of the plates because in addition to being a Superman nut, I am also a license plate collector, so the plates fit in quite nicely with two of my collections.
I am very glad to have found this forum and hope to post more often.

Really happy to be part of the awesome community the the RPF is!
My name is Tom and I've been doing props for a couple of years now ans a hobby. What I started with are mostly paper props based on lovecraft's novels and used during call of cthulhu and cthulhu live games. More recently I started doing other kind of props and replicas and slowly building myself a portfolio.

I have a blog where I post my prop-making projects, it also ocntains a lot of free paper props : Cephalopod Productions

Hello folks. I got into props through costuming... jedi, then Santa Claus, and then to stormtrooper. It started with a lightsaber and then I branched off into stormtrooper E-11s, baby ewoks, and into other Star Wars bits and pieces. I'm starting to prize my prop replicas more than my action figures and other collectibles. I just find props so much more involved and dynamic.

It was referred to me by a friend whose brother is a member here and making a replica of the armor used by Russell Crowe's character in "Gladiator." First post. I have collected replica miiltary uniforms for 30 years and replica TV and movie costumes and props for about 12 years. Obsessed with Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers; Robert Downey Jr's 'Sherlock Holmes', The Big Lebowski, Heath Ledger's Joker, LOTR, POTC, The Phantom, the 1966 TV Batman, and the 1940's Batman serials; 'Deadwood' and the Terminator movies. (Of course I have costumes and props from Star Trek and Star Wars). and The Matrix.
Nearing the choice between living with my spouse or my collections.

Will post decision later. (my wife's decision.)
