Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings all Long time lurker on this forum just now posting an introduction. Started messing with pep a few years ago and as everyone can imagine real life just kept me too busy and away from how I really wanted to spend my time. From Indiana close to Louisville Kentucky.

Hope to finally finish up my Mark VI so I can move on to my Mark VII once somplete. Will post up a build thread sometime in the near future.

Thanks all for the great forum and for all the contributers!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings to all!
My name is Laurel and I have been making costumes for almost 28 years. I have primarily created by sewing fabric during that time, but I'm starting to branch out. Many people use this point in their introduction to show off their stuff, but most of my work didn't get photographed before it went home with the client, or doesn't measure up (imho) to the fantastic work that gets posted here.

I have never been a cosplayer per se, unless you count the LARPing I've done. I'm glad to have seen someone say in the lady crafter thread about the idea that some people are naturally cosplayers, some are costumers, and some are both. I'm just so uncomfortable when people are looking at me that I worry that I'll never be able to evolve beyond being only a costumer.

2011 was my first dragoncon, and I was so inspired by the amazing talent that I immediately gathered up a bunch of friends to do a group cosplay for 2012. Then it all fell apart about three months later, and it took this con to decide that I would at least take the plunge and make things to wear in public for 2013.

I am very interested in seeing what I can accomplish with pepakura, but like most newbies, I want to start with a ridiculously complicated project! :facepalm (skyrim daedric armor) I'm trying to eat through all the FAQ and pep guides I can find before I ask my stupid questions (every newbie has at least one), but that's my focus at the moment.

Anyway, long story short (too late!), I am going to stop lurking here and start being seen, if only as practice for doing the same thing at dragoncon next year.

May you always find the strength to make your dreams a reality.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I'm new to the prop scene but have been watching these forums for a long time. Finally got my act together and going to start working on a proton pack and after that who know. Hopefully many of you can help me on my build(s)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, had a look around after my friend chris forward suggested it to me. So now going to see what I'm capable of. Reading up on the foam builds and just starting a mark vi ironman suite for my son.

Lots of ideas and things I want to try so if I get to an acceptable level I will post some photos. keep up the excellent work!

Cheers
Si

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey there! My names Darren, i've been using the site for loads of info and research the last few months as I make my Iron Man suit. I've always loved being creative (i'm a dental technician by trade) and love seeing the replica costumes people make. I'm into motorbiking too and own a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and that's the only thing that pulls me away from progress on my IM suit, ha ha!

So anyway I kind of stumbled upon Pepakura when looking for an Iron Man costume for this Halloween and therefore found this site when on my search. From there I was inspired by others work and decided I would give this stuff a go myself and now i'm working every evening and weekend I can to get this thing finished.

If you want to follow my progress and also give me some cool advice (always welcome) then you can visit my thread I just started here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/another-iron-man-mk6-full-suit-work-160051/

Hey there. My name is Tim, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Germany.

Since I was younger I builded things like Planes, Tanks and Spaceships out of plasic. Now when I have finished my present Model, I think I will start an Iron Man Suit. Call me one boy that don't want such a thing :p

Sorry for my english, it's not perfect.

I think I will need lots of help because I never did something like that. I always used kits with plans and did nothing from scratch although I did use self-made electronics, like lights and so on.

Another problem is that all the Materials used by you, like foam or fiberglass resin are hard to get in Germany and they're expensive too. I hope to find some German users that could tell me where to get this stuff.

Well I stop talking now :p

PS. To all Germans with experiance: Mail me a PM please ;)

Greets

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey Everyone,

I found this site a few days ago while looking at some youtube videos. I have always wanted to try and build some of the stuff you guys seem to be masters at. I am just starting to read and learn and try some of the Iron Man peps on here for foam. I really love the way people help each other out on this site. If anyone could maybe share some of the secrets to like harding the peps or what steps you should start with I would really love to hear any and all advice from you guys.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hiya, Jon here from the UK, probably some of you folk know me already from the UKG! Finally after all these years I have got round to joining the RPF. Been involved in costuming since 2005, and prop building/scratch building long before that.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Start with the Helmet. Every body starts there and its not as difficult as you think. If you have pepakura on your pc then start printing now. any questions give me a shout. Not too loud lol. I have the keygen to unlock Pepakura. Its a fantastic program.

Hi All!

My Names Kieron and I'm a Advertising Designer. I am very interested in learning foam costume building techniques, but as I live in UK (wales) Foam Rolls aren't all that readily available :(

I'm interested and very keen to get started on these projects:
