Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi all, the name's Dave (as if you hadn't guessed) I'm from a little place called Northampton in England. Been a huge movie fan since I was a kid. I've been watching the RPF for a few months now and sooooo happy I managed to register at long last! Big fan of the fantastic work you guys and gals do on here, and also very nice to see such a varied helpful, friendly bunch of people:) Hopefully going to have a couple of projects on the go soon, sadly out of a job at the moment, but as soon as the cashflow is ok then I'll be up to my armpits in various tools and materials;)

Keep up the good work peeps.

Yeah. Actually, I knew of you from the RPF from when I was only able to read the forums. That's how I ran into your work at the Deviantart page. As for A.S.A.P., I wasn't even aware that you were there. That was definitely a coincidence. But thank you for welcoming me here. :D

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

I am also from Canada and I am a big fan of putting together lifesize displays from my favorite movies.

I have read posts on this forum for a couple of years now and thought that I would finally join.
(The annual registration period is a very small window of opportunity)

Some members here I recognize from other forums and some I have done business with in the past.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Okay now. I'm finally here after lurking about for many years and admiring the wonderful workmanship of other prop builders.

Hi everybody, I'm Blair Keith. Some of you may know me by way of my pal, Bob, aka OB10. I had been dubbed the "Cardboard King", though I have seen other craftsmen here use the same material, in the early '90's, but had been using the stuff since the early '80's. It's cheap and easily available and can work like wood, since thats what it is made of.

I scatch build most of my stuff. If I can't find something for a part, I usually fabricate it from this material. Plus most of my scatch builds have been made before any kits were available and even before there was an RPF.

I've had many admirers of my work and requests to build something for them. Let me be clear about this now so there will be no misunderstandings in the future. To me, this is a hobby. It takes a lot of work to dream up techniques and a lot more labor to create my props for my use and to entertain. I'm not looking for business opportunities building for others. I'm sure other builders here may feel the same.

Anyways, I'm glad to be here and hope to learn and perhaps share some of my techniques I've developed over the years.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi everyone!

Similar story to many posts here, I've been lurking for a number of years, glad to finally be able to become a member!

Huge Star Trek fan, although I am just about a fan of anything Sci-Fi.

Big into my Trek props, couple of Master Replicas phasers, Roddenberry.com Mark IX Tricorder, loads of Playmates stuff from when I was younger.

I recognise Cmdr.Kerner from the Okudagrams forums, so hello to him!

Kai.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi everyone, I thought i'd introduce myself...
Have just registered on the board and am quite excited about this place..
I had no idea that there are such a talented bunch of people out there...
I'm mostly a StarWars fan, have a TK outfit from AP and now looking into doing the Dark Lord himself.....

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Greetings from Finland!

Just starting the hobby so this forum is a very good resource.

I'm mainly just acquiring movie collectibles at the moment... not really building anything by myself at this time. Maybe in the future...

Hello

My name is Jess and I have been into props for the past 5 years or so. I collect mostly Sci-Fi stuff but have been picking stuff up on productions I have been working on. I really appreciate the opportunity to have gotten on the RPF!

I have started to post some of my props on here:

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello all,

I am new to the RPF but many of you already know me from the Brotherhood of the Bat (where many refer to me as Uncle Ed) and the League of Heroes (where I was head moderator since 2004 till about 2 months ago, though technically I guess I'm still a mod). My primary interest lies in Batman collecting and prop making (I have been a very active member of the BOTB since 2001). I am also interested in Star Trek though my collection of items is not that large. I do however have a very large Bat collection (possibly one of the largest out there) and am known for my INSANE cowl collection. If you want to view a video a buddy did of my collection you can see part 1 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXr4DMUGjUA and part 2 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NwQekDSjoo (as well as seeing what my ugly puss looks like). Sit back, enjoy the show and share in my dimentia :lol
Also should anyone wish to contact me I prefer that it be by direct email at efarrell4@yahoo.com
I would like to thank the staff for approving my membership.:thumbsup I hope to be a useful asset to the RPF.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi everybody! my name is Ian and I was a member on TPZ for a while. I love props and have collected and built them for a few years. I have a work study at the University of Wyoming to build and study props and design, so its sort of a passion haha. I mostly do trek props but have been looking into other fields. Thanks for allowing me to join this awesome community! You guys rock!!!

Here are some of my prop pics! Thanks!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi, my name is Danielle. First time member, long time lurker :)

My history: I minored in Costume Design for my BFA and have designed a few shows as well as a couple of Star Wars costumes. I'm also a prop collector (or was during my student loan days) and own a few MC Lord of the Rings swords, an MP Darth Vader ESB saber and a few J Peterman Titanic props. I used to own a lot more but have since sold quite a few.

So, the first replica prop I made was a couple of weeks ago for a friend's birthday. He is a rabid Indiana Jones fan and I created a replica of the Sankara manuscript using old distressed canvas and stick watercolor. Sadly, I forgot to scan it when finished but will as soon as I can get it back from him (he is not exactly parting with it easily).

Thanks to this forum, I plan to create tons of props and know you guys are great at assisting with info! I've been waiting for a long time to join :)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi Everyone.

Finally managed to register after over a year waiting in the wings.

Big thanks to all the members here i've managed to contact outside of the forum, your help and advice has helped me build my small collection.

Special thanks to PastorJedi who pointed me to the RPF.

Cheers Andy Oldham.

Here's a couple of pics of some of my collection on the little blue kitchen table that doubles as my workbench !

Some Sabers and a Salzo V3 in progress.
