Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello everyone,

this is my first posting and I would like to introduce myself a little bit. I live near Hanover in Germany and I'm quite active in the Star Trek Fandom over here.

Last year during my vacation in Florida my friend John from Cocoa Beach was reading in this forum, so I thought this would be a nice place to exchange some experience in making props.

Since the age of ten I'm building props, my first item was the badge from Spock in 1972. In the last 18 years I made a lot of ST-TNG, DS9 and VOY props like VISORs, PADDs, LCARS Keypads, isolinear optical chips, bottle labels from Quarks bar and much more.

Most of the PADD displays and LCARS and other science fiction graphics I create with CorelDraw 12 by myself.

Even Intergalactic Trading in Longwood, FL is selling some of my PADDs and LCARS Keypads.

Next time I would like you to show some of my collection.

So long and keep on trekking

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi all. I used to be a member on the old boards...way back when it was called the RPG or something on the old ezboards. I got out of the hobby, sold most of my collection including helmets, props, but held onto my Graflex Luke...after all it was the prop that started it all for me in the mid 90s. I've gone through alot and got my life back in order and now I an enjoy this life again...in moderaction I hope. Once you get sucked in, it's all down hill from there. lol.

Very glad to be here. My name is Chris Feehan, and I live in Mineola, NY (Long Island) with my wife Diane and twin 8 year old twin girls Charlotte and Madeline. I work at Verizon in the IT department as a Computer Systems Administrator. I support primarily the PCs used in training, and the servers and apps associated with them. I have been a Sci-Fi nut for the past 20 years, with Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, and Battlestar Galactica being favorites. I went to my first con at 15, and until the kids were born, I was going to cons 2-3 times a year. Now that the kids are bit older and I had more time for my other hobbies, I got back into collecting and tinkering with costumes and collecting Star Wars stuff. My wife got me the Stormtrooper FX kit for Christmas 2007 and I spent the past year tweaking it, and getting it up to snuff. I joined the 501st and the Empire City Garrison, in early 2008 and I have been on 13 troop assignments over the past year. I am always looking for Star Wars and general Sci-Fi props, and costume ideas, so this site is great for me.

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi all , Im Dave & live in Guildford , UK .

My first love was Star Wars , figures , books , almost anything i could get my hands on & in 2002 my collection was valued at about £20,000 . In the years that passed I stopped collecting & sold off most of my collection .
I have kept some items , like every copy of star wars magazine / SW Insider .
Still have my fan club membership bits for the early 80's & my ESB poster signed by Mark Hamill , Harrison Ford , Carrie Fisher & George Lucas will never be sold .
Im a big Sci Fi fan & in 2005 started costuming , which takes up most of my spare time .
Here's my costumes

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi,

Currently I just do some minor Star Wars prop making. I'm hoping to expand my knowledge base as I want to get into making some very detailed & intricate costumes for the future.

Also, some of you may know me from TDH as the chick who makes the horsehair wookie braids. :)

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi everyone,

My name is Mark and I am 38 years old and live in England.
I have been floating around this forum for some time now but have never managed to get registered. I finally made it! Some people may know me from a few other forums.
I am a huge Star Wars fan and love the prop side of it. I have a few ST lids, a prototype of AA SDS Shadow trooper helmet and a couple of sets of ST armor currently in the build process. I have built Luke's, Darth Vader's and Obi Wan Kenobi's lightsabers from ANH and am also building an E11 blaster from original parts. I have collected a complete kit for a Darth Vader Reveal helmet but have never had the time to complete the build process on it yet.
I worked for a couple of years at Aztec Modelmakers a Prop builders here in the UK which is run/owned by a very good friend of mine.
We have worked on a load of great films. Stardust, Fab 1 Thunderbirds, Star Wars, Sunshine, Hellboy I and II, XXX and Batman Begins to name but a few.
Anyway I am glad to be here an d look forward to meeting a lot of great and interesting people.
Hi Russrep, got here at last!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Well Hello There,

I'm brand new to the hobby, but a long time fan of everything Star Wars.
Began lurking just after the last registration period closed, in that short time I have learned loads and have been inspired to take my love for the SW Universe to a new level.

My collection includes a handful of MR Sabers, two Luke Graflex conversions and Vader MPP conversions. My current prized piece is a yet to be converted Original MPP...... been on my "workbench" for six months and just cant build up to heart to remove the diamond logo.:cry

My most recent projects are a Jedi comlink, and a mockup and weathering of an Obi ROTS blank.

Glad to be here!:thumbsup

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hi, I am Eden, 13 years old.
I am NOT new to collecting, nor costuming. I am pretty much interested in only Batman, with a few exceptions.
I have two cowls, a Dead End, and a TDK, soon getting a '89. I have made a DE, and staring my 89. The project I am looking forward to, is my OYL Robin suit!

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Roadkillontheweb should be my real user name but it was too long. I am a car collector and a powered promotional car collector. The Powered promotional cars is what brings me to this site. If you are not familiar with them you might want to check out my website for more information.
www.jrcentral.com
My youtube videos

I have been making parts for the 3/8 and 1/4 scale model cars for many years now and have had to learn a lot about silicone rubber molds, centifugal rubber mold casting of low temp metals (Zinc etc.) and vacuum forming. In order to make replacement parts and create from scratch parts that had no originals to copy from or never existed in the first place. I own two vacuum formers one has a 7"X7" forming surface and the other has a 26"X26" forming surface. Both of them are manufacturer made but after looking at some of the posts here I am looking to build one of my own to fit the sizes I need. I use a lot of plastics from Polytek but will give smooth-on a try after reading of the success that others have had with thier products.

I am currently restoring a 1961 Thunderbird JR and when that one is done I can move on to the 1958 Desoto Firemite that is shown in my signature picture. With the Desoto I will have to build many forms from scratch for the vacuum formed parts. Believe it or not the entire body of these was vacuum formed in 1957. I will have to make the body in fiberglass and all of the other parts will be vacuum formed as original. The car has a 6B Briggs and straton motor with working headlights, taillights and horn. Currently there are only about 5 of these known still in existance.

I hope to pick some of your brains as I make mold mold bucks and forms and will share future projects. What would be the most appropriate form to post my questions on?

Re: New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!...

Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster!

I'm Chiok, 24, in the UK. I'm not much of a collector unfortunately, funds withstanding, but am a big film/comic/video game fan. My main interests are actually in the creation of props and other such artefacts as I one day hope to become a prop maker. Have a portfolio and everything, but none of the UK companies seem to be biting at the moment unfortunately. A downturn in the economy, would you believe?

www.instructables.com is my other home which has some of my work, most notably the Portal Gun from Portal, and my first attempt at the processes from creating an Iron Man helmet (which I hope to redo and improve with more funds).

Just glad to be a part of the community!
