New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

I really don't know how I feel about this episode. It was good but it didn't make sense. Not that it normally does, but whatever.

I enjoyed it. I like the new Tardis, like the new companion, and the sneak peek into the new season looked pretty darn good to me. I try not to judge the show too harshly as it still considered a childrens show. So I just try to kick back and have fun. I was happy they made her the . . . Ah well. Spoilers.

:)

Thoughts on Doctor Who Christmas Special?

After watching the DW Christmas special and the series 7 part 2 trailer, I came up with a few theories about Clara, the Doctor's new companion. Since "Oswin" died and came back as Clara, she may either be a Time Lord or not a human. After watching the new trailer, several people were talking about her, so I think she will be like River Song, who plays an important part in the Doctor's life, but he doesn't know it. Any thoughts? Comments?

I thought it was good... But we do have a thread for DW discussions...

Re: Doctor Who: New Consol Room

I love the new console room. What's throwing me off those is the door being on the right side of the screen instead of the left. That's going to take some getting used to.

Wonder if Moffat will have them change the set again the next time there's a cast change though :)

The snowmen plot was classic "Moffat trying too hard to be witty and odd", but the Clara story was great and I can't wait to see where they go with it. The new console room looks good now that it doesn't look CG, but I wish they'd turn some more lights on. The new intro is AMAZING! So close to an updated version of McGann's. The new song is great, new vortex beats the crap out of that smoke tunnel, and the return of the face was done really well.

I enjoyed the episode a great deal and I have pretty much hated all the Christmas specials since The Christmas Invasion, the exterior of the TARDIS looks much better when its not pristine and shiny, the interiror is brilliant, I loved it! I also thought Matt Smith was good but for me Clara stole the episode, I think she is going to turn out to be, like Jack, some sort of fixed point in space/time, plus one of the key aspects of the character, she's damn gorgeous

I think I find her feistiness more appealing than her looks (not that those aren't nice :)), plus the fact that she doesn't seem to see the Doctor as some great wonderful man to admire/fall in love with. Sure she kissed him, but that was more about seeing what his reaction would be.
Still left wondering why a Governess would be masquerading as a barmaid, or vice versa, but that's another part of the appeal of he character. Can't wait to see how the next version of her ties into things.

The outside still has the time damage on it from violating 1930's Manhattan airspace. The new interior looks fantastic, there's even still a cubby for a phone behind the phone door. I noticed the column of lights in the center didn't seem to move so the rotating ceiling section has replaced that to show flight. I really enjoyed the story too; one of the best of the Smith Era, easily. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the interior of the Tardis as they've done it up now.

I spent most of the story trying to guess if that was Patrick Stewart or Ian MacKellen voicing the snow globe.

I can't believe I can't remember this but since 1963 how many console rooms have there been now?

Thank you VERY much for seeing that as a hint and not a plot hole. I'm getting sick and tired of so many fans on the web and fellow Whovians local to me all pissing and moaning that stuff like that is a plot hole or a mistake instead of a hint of something deeper or something else going on.

My wife pointed out the earrings that Oswin was wearing as the barmaid were period correct but far too high class for a Victorian scullery wench. When she swapped out being the best barmaid that tavern owner had ever had for returning to being the governess of the girls the earrings made sense as a big hint that there was more to her.

You'd be amazed at the amount of subtle things in each episode. Did you ever take a good look what was on all the screens in NYC's Times Square in Angels Take Manhattan?

Unless you're counting the odd reconfiguration for an episode here or there, or you're counting minor upgrades/changes to the console itself, you've got 7 with the current being the seventh.
1: Hartnell - Tom Baker (essentially the same throughout with minor changes from time to time)
2: the "wooden" auxilliary control room
3: the new control room (davison - McCoy)
4: TVmovie room (McGann)
5: 9/10 control room.. coral (Eccleston-Tennant)
6: 11 mk1 (Smith)
7: 11 mk2 (the one from this episode)
