According to the Doctor, "[The Weeping Angels] are as old as the universe (or very nearly), but no one really knows where they come from." He also describes them as "creatures of the abstract", "the lonely assassins", and "the only psychopaths in the universe to kill you nicely", because their method of killing doesn't do anything of the sort. A touch sends their victims into the past to live out their lives before they were even born; the Angels then feed on the "potential energy" of the lives their victims would have lived in the present. However, they are capable of killing, as seen in The Time of Angels when they snapped (off-screen) the necks of three cleric soldiers.


it's been postulated they are banished time lords that had been cast into the Eye of Rassilon.

I thought the episode was good and the last scene was expected and pretty funny. I wasn't expecting the counter to land on 2010 though.

Interestingly enough, June 26, 2010 will be the air date of the last episode of the season.

So far the new series has left me with mixed feelings.

I feel that Flesh and Stone took away a lot from the original established mythos from Blink. Notice how the Angels don't send people back in time nor do they hide their eyes from each other. In several scenes the angels are too spread out to see all at once, so why don't they attack if they get a chance ? Upping the ante on this one was perhaps a bad move and more in this case isn't always better ...

And is it me or is the Doctor a bit less brilliant than he used to be ? I'm not saying he should be the near omnipotent character RTD made him into, but he only narrowly manages to save the day, often at a high cost and only because people like Song are there to do most of the heavy lifting.

I like Smith and Gillan, I even like the new Daleks, but so far I haven't been wowed much.

Victory of the Daleks just screened in Australia. IMO the worst episode in the past 3 years of the show. There was no character development of any worth, terrible science (even if it is fiction) and awful resolution. The Daleks reappeared, shuffled about in the most abominable spaceship set since Plan 9 From Outer Space and then took off to the future. I just couldn't suspend my disbelief and enjoy it. Especially the ending: "Go and live in the countryside my walking dalek bomb friend". Dreadful. Gatiss is a sub-par writer, I hope he doesn't get asked back again.

Second part was frankly a bit dull - except the "doctors coat" and what that perhaps suggests - that perked me up and made me want to re watch the previous episodes to see if any more hints might be woven in.

And no speculation on the man that River Song kills? C'mon, it's obvious. She kills the Doctor at some point.

When he comes back to talk to Amy when she has her eyes closed he's wearing his jacket. Popular opinion says it's the Doctor coming back from the future to say something important to her.

What about the Doctor's coat?

OOoOoOoOOhhh.. I see. He had his coat back after he first initially left Amy and then started talking to her again, asking her to remember what he told her when she was seven. Which may go back to the way he TARDIS returned to her while she was a child and she was sitting on the luggage.

The episode completely disregarded the mythology for the weeping angels setup in Blink (my most favorite of episodes).

I hate that Amy jumped the doctor as well. Seems out of character...

That's what really bothered me, too. It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly didn't they win out last time because when the TARDIS left, the 3 angels were left staring at each other?

You are correct. This bugged me too. I thought Amy just wanting one last booty call before getting married was funny.

It's not like we didn't see that coming. She's lived her whole life thinking about the Doctor, so you'd figure she'd want to hit that given the chance. I like the way he handled it.
