New BMF coming

Ok,At 3 hours I was able to produce the chip seen in the picture with my fingernail with some effort. Ten minutes ago, I tried to do it again, but the paint would just scuff, not chip. I then did the tape test using both 3M Scotch-Blue painter's tape and Tamiya masking tape, including applying it directly over the chip and it passed with flying colors.

Give it a couple of days and then try another tape test. In my case the paint seemed to work just as yours was. Then I was chatting with one of my modeling gurus and hesuggested I try to scratch of or tape test again in a few days. He was right... the paint came right off.

I'm trying some the adhesion accelerators now. Found out that says it is specifically for ployproplain. We'll see.

Have you seen this?

Still no luck at my local store, though I did not check Lawn & Garden. Maybe I will. If I can't find it there, perhaps I'll check Bedding...

BTW - thanks guys for posting the pics.

LOL... actually, i forgot that they stock big toys back there, especially for the holidays! Previously, I was directed to someone in "electronics" to see if they had the MF, but they had said no. :wacko Glad I asked the guy stocking the toys yesterday! :D

LOL, yep. :lol

And THAT's why it's called Wally World. Because it's run by a bunch of wally's who put toys in the Lawn and Garden departments.

Talk about your last resorts. Please note that the piece that he is holding is far thicker then our beloved falcon toy. I have done some heat experiments with mine as a way of cutting and trimming plastic. And my opinion is that if you put a torch to it the way this guy does that thick car peace you will melt off all the details.

This might sound dumb.. but would acrylic paint stick to it?

I'm both a toy collector and a modeler and this BMF is such a wasted opportunity. The polypropylene plastic makes it virtually impossible to customize without exposing oneself to a myriad of potential carcinogens and as a toy it has pretty much zero play value. Major fail on the part of Hasbro IMHO. The same goes for the big@$$ X-Wing as well.

So this new material must be the reason Hasbro couldn't paint it and supplied stickers instead. I always thought the Legacy Falcon's plastic was strangely rubbery already. But I remember it came in with some panels already painted red and gray.

The Wal-Mart in Dulles/Sterling, Virginia had 8... 4 at the front of one of the aisles in the Toy Department, and 4 more in an aisle-center cardboard Star Wars display (in between the toy and garden departments). They were $59.96 (or $59.98... can't remember).

I didn't get one. I had it in the cart, but decided to wait until the painting, gluing, cutting, and custom parts concerns all get a little more worked out.

Wow, Chris - you had the fish in the net :wacko! Don't worry about the custom parts as they will surely come. Just make sure you grab the burger you'll be sticking them onto.
