New BMF coming

Mine just arrived (I took a gamble and preordered back when the Falcon was first announced, despite not knowing what the underside would look like). I know it's frustrating that some of you haven't been able to get your hands on one of these yet, but hooboy - it will be worth the pain when you do!

Im sure they will be on the shelves soon enough. Probably well in time for the Christmas rush.

I almost have to think that Hasbro was blind sided by the unexpected popularity of this and just didn't have enough in the pipeline to fulfill demand. That will teach them, give us something decent and we will buy it!!

Agreed. hopefully they will produce it in numbers like the new X-wing. That thing is in stock everywhere. I think we are just a little antsy:)

Understandably. On the bright side.....they old Kenner MF cockpit is a good fir for the other Legacy MF.

Ill probably get two of these. Use one for donor parts on my legacy MF and repaint the other. Then Ill have two.

I worry this thing will be the hottest toy for the holidays and people will be price gauging and snatching all of them up to post on ebay and hold them for ransom knowing parents will have to pay up to put one under the tree.

I don't even see this listed on walmart.com. I'd like to order one, or at least sign up for notifications, but I can't find the product. boo

I clicked the photo on the website and it no longer takes me to the page. Maybe they removed it for now?

Just got mine a few days ago, quickly tested another method for painting on the inside of the disassembled hull. Rub down with 91% iso alcohol, scuff with fine steel wool, and a dusting, and i mean a very fine dusting of Krylon fusion satin white. After 24hrs, quite hard to scratch off, not perfect but passed a blue painters tape test.

I have found over the years that a dusting of paint or primer always seems to stick much better than a heavy coat.

I would try this on the inside if you want to give it a go to see if your results are similar.

I will post more as i go but my hope is that the krylon fusion dusting will give me a very fine base to work off of. I hope to add a layer of very fine primer then switch to Tamiya acrylics.

I actually managed to get one yesterday at £29.99 :D I have to say it is very good. After selling my MR Falcon a few years ago , i had kind of resigned myself to the fact that i would never own another big Falcon , so this is very good news. I have built 2 new sidewalls for the front so far. They are both totally innacurate and very much in the spirit of ILM, I just stuck parts from various models onto plasticard and i will secure them with double sided tape. Lets just say that mine was Modified by Han Solo some time after the Battle of Endor! Most modelling fun i have had in a long time!

I finally opened my MF this morning and quickly found the difference in the plastic used between this and the BMF. That said I took some photos of the radar dish that came with it then some more with my spare BMF radar and the difference in sizes makes all the difference.

I'll now be using my BMF radar as a replacement.

I did a paint test yesterday on mine. Cleaned it like I would a resin kit, with a mild abrasive, then some alcohol, then used standard Tamyia rattle can gray primer, then Krylon flat white and then Tamiyia beige. They all worked perfectly. The white spot is where I tried a tape test to see if the paint would stick. As you can see it did.
