New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

Just got this for christmas and I love it. Quick question though, I know the looseness varies from sonic to sonic but when extended, does anyone elses make a noticeable noise when you gently shake it side to side? Also mine doesn't extend/retract very smoothly and almost feels like something metal scraping along something. If this isn't common, should I send it in and get a replacement? I love this thing and just want it to be as perfect as possible :D

metal actually is scraping on metal, there is a little piece in the back that fits in with a groove and locks the sonic so it doesn't fall open when turned upside down.

I work at a place that uses that stuff to glue lenses in place, it is specialized and requires a special uv light device to cure. It's probably the strongest glue I've ever used though.

Vaguely OT but, I've never heard of those outside of a dentist's office. What are such adhesives like to work with? What is the strength of the bond?

More on topic, I'm so jealous of everyone who already has of these. Come on Christmas surprise...

Ok, that's what I figured. So it's not supposed to be feel like a smooth transition? Because the way I pictured it from seeing videos and reviews, it'd be a smooth push but it takes a little bit of force to fully extend it. I have to use my thumb nail to push it up otherwise my thumb will slide and hit the button. Also curious if anyone else's make a loose rattle noise when fully extended? It just sounds and feels loose and less sturdier than I thought. Don't want to sound like I'm complaining though, the screwdriver is actually a lot more responsive and way easier to use than I thought it'd be.

Just mess with it for a while. I think its due to the plastic not actually being used until you got it. But I messed with mine for about a day and it got easier to slide up and down.

i got mine too. Still need to figure put the programing. Anyone else have a problem heaing it. I have to hold it close to my ear to hear what it is saying.

I already mentioned about finding the sweet spot for getting the loudest sound, but I thought I'd chime in on the 'rattle' when you shake the sonic. To me this isn't bad, because I think it actually sounds like the effect the folley artists dubbed in to represent the sonic being handled. If you recall they used a corkscrew of the type with lever arms to give a heavy metallic sound whenever Tennant manipulated the sonic.

Sort of in the words of Muskrat (from Deputy Dawg) It's possible....it's possible... don't know why that came to me, but it did... good ideas, will think on it.

Sorry to bother, but I've been watching a lot of david tennant episodes trying to find which ones this sonic was used in, but i can't seem to find the one that this one is in. Its not that im questioning the accuracy but I just was wondering if you guys know what episodes this version was used in?

It's scanned from the sonic Tenant was given when he left. I believe it was cobbled together from various bits of the prop so it never featured in any episode in that particular form.

Though not sure if i'm 100% right there.

Well its just, the emitter is kind of small if you compare it to some of the episodes, I could be mistaken. I mean there might be an episode that I just didn't notice.

The emitter bulb or the emitter cage?

The entire top part, emitter bulb and cage just seem smaller than in the episodes I've watched. For example if you watch the part in the Lazarus experiment when the doctor and martha are hiding from Lazarus and he is trying to reverse the polarity you get a clear look at the emitter and its a bit bigger.

To be honest, I don't know a LOT about the various props built for the show but it doesn't seem bigger to me in TLE having just watched that scene.

I dont know a lot about them either, and again its not that im questioning the accuracy, I just really want to know where exactly it was from. It just seemed bigger to me. I mean if you pause right when he pulls out the sonic you can compare. It looks bigger. I might watch again to check.

It was used in Series Four onwards. Although the Aztec still features prominently.

That's not quite true. The sonic was rebuilt (two of them) to be sturdier after shooting ended for Series Three and before shooting started on the Christmas special with Kylie. Both Tennant's A prop and the B prop made at the same time can be seen throughout the next series and the specials. Tennant does still use the Aztec though as well. When Tennant left the A prop was repainted and given to him.

Any specific episodes in series 4 you can give me that I can use as reference?

That episode will probably have the Aztec being used in it. The struts on the emitter head are wider and more prominent on it.

Try Voyage of the Damned where he pops the champagne cork.

But Isn't the Aztec the one without a slider?
