New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

Has anyone tried buying a second one and replacing the slider knob so it becomes a 9th doctor sonic?

EDIT: Never mind. I am now reading earlier posts and found out my question was obsolete, Tobor did just that.

Nice idea. I personally like the idea of us making a 4th Doctor's remote, but apart from the vertical thing, which i think we can get round... where on Earth would you put the button? All ideas gratefully received... ^_^

No button. Just use the slide down as a button, just like the CO toys.

Hey guys, new to the thread here (finally got the courage to step up and do the registration that I have been procrastinating to do). What do you guys recommend for painting the aluminum parts of the screwdriver (steps and which paint to use)? I'm thinking of attempting to paint it to a gold/bronze color, like River Song's Sonic Screwdriver. Thanks :D

He did a beautiful job on the Aztec version, but I don't think anyone's attempted a 'raised button' slider!

LOL! Probably... he always held the screwdriver oddly too...

What I find interesting is that I find myself flicking the 10th Remote to extend it for some reason... probably has to do with my 11th that kursosawa made... ha!

My friend does that too! I actually found myself doing that a lot with the CO toy version. I'm not sure I've the brass to do that with the remote, I'm worried about the damage it might do...

Anyone working on a River Song mod?

(I mean it's possible right?)

Remember that the River Song sonic was NOT a modified Tenth. It was a completely different design sharing no parts.

Hmm... I did not know that, but I've seen some of the amazing and talented things that people do here and I'm sure someone can think of something :D

Seriously... even if it was an entirely separate prop, there are obvious visual cues that are meant to imply it was meant in-universe to have been 10's sonic modified by River Song.

I'm sure it could be done.

Hmmm. I never got the impression that it was meant to be a modified tenth since they went out of their way to make sure NO parts were carried over.

Interesting project to modify one though.

It is a future Doctors sonic and an old one at that, not the same as Tens or even meant to be, just part of the design evolution as it was at that time. The Doctor gave it to her not long before she went to the Library ( night before?), so she didn't mod it. It was already like that. If she had modded it or tinkered with it, she may have been curious as to the flashy thing under the panel.

I agree.

DOCTOR: Your screwdriver... looks exactly like mine.
RIVER: Yeah. You gave it to me.
DOCTOR: I don't give my screwdriver to anyone.
RIVER: I'm not anyone.

I don't quite get the "exactly" remark. I sort of thought that maybe the Doctor kept the old one even if it was broken and either fixed it (with that modified look) or that River did it.

I don't quite get the "exactly" remark.

When the script was written, it probably was intended (by Moffat) that River's was the same exact sonic as Ten's. It would have changed during production when they realized the story would be better served by using different designs. Sort of like how the script for Wrath of Khan specified that the Reliant was the same class of starship as the Enterprise, with the design we know evolving once they figured out that audiences would need to be able to tell the two ships apart.
