Tell me which company delivers the sonic screwdriver around the world?
I know that soon the BBC Australia already have to deliver around the world.
1) One of the two sonics are tighter than the other, where the slider is tough to push open or close. The other, when fully opened up, sits loosely and rattles. I'm not sure which is supposed to be right?
2) One of the two had a highly knicked up emitter. The second one is pristine and clean. Who should I address for the replacement? I purchased both from BBC America.
I would suggest contacting BBC America about the damage since they handled your order and payment. They'll likely have some allotted for replacements.
The nicked emitter doesn't sound good at all - I'm really sorry about that. Please email us a couple of photos (again to sonic@thewandcompany.com) and we'll get a replacement sorted out for you.
BBC America are actually still short of stock, as I mentioned in post #635 yesterday, so they probably don't have any sonics set aside for replacements. However, we're very happy to deal with any issues ourselves - it's very helpful for us to get the feedback directly and to see any problems first-hand, so we can work with our factory to avoid any such issues recurring in the next few weeks' production.
Cheers,
Richard
Most of the retailers listed on our website (Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control) will deliver all over the world, but please check with them if their websites aren't clear about delivering to your particular country.
There is a bit of variation between the sonics in production - the tighter one should loosen up a bit over time. If you have any worries, please email us at sonic@thewandcompany.com and we'd be glad to help.

I've said it before but you and TWC really are knocking it out of the park on this one. Way to go! I hope the entire team knows how much we truly appreciate the hard work you've all put in to bring this thing to market.
Amazing. The lengths that you are taking to make sure your customers happy.
I am very impressed with your customer service and professionalism. I'm sure we're all thankful that you guys are top notch people!

Richard
Just received mine in the post. WOW! Its pretty nice.
It works a treat and looks great, especially with the box and the stand.
However, something I've noticed is that the aluminium scratches easily, and the weight of it (being so light) does make it feel quite cheap compared to an MFX or others. I think a full metal one would have been nicer, but then again, the cost would be greater and the crackle wouldn't have been so accurate.
The weight of an MFX sonic is 104g. The weight of the wand company's sonic is 45g.
According to the wand company, their version is only 5g lighter than the original. It may feel a bit fake, but just think you're holding almost the same weight as Tennant did.
The MFX one is mainly brass which makes it heavier (not accurate to the prop which was nearly all aluminium), but after getting used to the weight of the MFX version, the remote came as a bit of a shock! I just think that a bit more weight would make it feel as if it was the real prop, rather than just a remote.

Richard and I debated putting some of the bigger ones on to the model but realised that a) it would be too hard to do them repeatably and b) it would have increased the cost.
As far as the weight is concerned, it would have been impossible for us to make the body out of metal and have the crackle finish a good match to the David Tennant prop that we ended up copying.
(Note, brass is about 8 or 9 times more dense than ABS and by the same token, had it been possible to make the main body in brass, then it would have added about 25g to the overall weight).
Dear Richard,
Sorry for another shipping question.
I have an email from Mighty Ape (New Zealand) that says the expected release date is now the 30th of November? Any idea what is taking them so long as you said a while back that they were picking up their shipment.
Please note I am not blaming you
Thanks
I think you may have missed the 'November' part. ie. a month away.Strangely, I have the same question about Firebox. They have confirmed that my sonic is amongst the ones in the last schipment (though, they didn't confirm it in these exact words), but still it says "stock expected in 2-4 days" on my account.
