As soon as I saw this title the Theme song for NES came into my head and now I can't get it out of my head. I would LOVE one of these books. Reminds me of another book i'd like to have. The book with the eye on it from Hocus Pocus.

I talked to my decal guy and can get a freebie on the THE NEVERENDING STORY to put on the cover.
Can any of our font experts guess the font and size?
If so I will get these made this weekend.
I looked at a nice gold fleck which would seem to work.
Also one of my daughter playmates father works as a printer, he may be able to help.

I'm not a font expert ...
I checked all my fonts and the best match was 'Baskerville' (the 'E' and 'Y' are a bit different).

Sorry to hear about that :thumbsdown Hopefully you will still be in for a finished copy? Im still up for typing the whole thing out in MS word if were not allowed to convert a PDF version?

Please be aware that mu original intent was not to sell copies of this book.
I thought it would be fun to have a group project wherein all of the participants would recieve a copy of the book, simply paying for materials along the way so...... having said that unless all who chimed in with an interest care to help out I fail to see how this is different than an interest thread. Which would be in the jy.
Sorry if it seems rude but I for one have no interest in walking a legal tightrope so some others can have a cool book.

And perhaps we can refocus our efforts onto recreating the cover only.
From there it would be up to the owners to to legally obtain a copy of the book and rebind it themselves.
Again I am sorry if it comes across as crass or rude but This thing got bigger than I could have imagined way too fast.

Matt, you are not allowed to spread copyrighted material. I am sorry, but so are the rules.
And those are not the RPF rules alone, but it´s the law in almost all parts of the world. So, if you do not want to do any harm to the RPF, you will have to find a work-around for this.

Noone gets a warning or an infraction for "helping out", but for violations of the rules of the RPF.

Thats fair enough. As you said this isnt a RPF rule but the law. Focus shifted back to the front cover :thumbsup

I am on board to help out in any way that I can. May I suggest that if the exact font cannot be found, to NOT settle for a 'close enough' font, but rather try and re-create the font from scratch.
I figure if there is going to be this much time and effort into recreating the book cover, we might as well go for the most authentic look possible.

That might be the safest path... Maybe a good idea would be to find a copy of the book that's readily available, and scale the movie-themed cover to that book. Then we could still easily apply the cover to the actual book...

I have an auryn to donate, it was from a promotional necklace from the original studio gift shop.
it is for the most part accurate, these can still be found on ebay for 40 dollars or so.

Most people inc myself would probably have the book on or in a display just for people to look at and not really bother about the inside of it the main focus is the front of the book so i would not be bothered about (if it came with any) having blank pages within, I will happily help make a donation towards the cost.

If you were to have just the front cover on a book behind a nice display case, it wont matter whats inside. I will be viewing the original prop when I go to some music work at Sony this weekend. I will see if I can take measurements.
