Nerf Gun Props? YES!

I picked up this exact same one at a Good Will in Roswell months ago. it's in pieces, with some parts sanded. I need to dust off this project and get it finished.

I really like what you did with the paint job on yours, very nice.

Thanks. It's a pretty cool gun for modding. Are you going to incorporate the ammo belt into yours?

Yeah, I'm going to use the ammo belt. I'm thinking of turning the orange ammo belt into something more realistic, paint them brass, and make some silver "bullet" tips so it looks like rounds.

I'm still not sure about the paint scheme, yet.

ok, here we go. I've been lingering in the shadows for maybe a few years now, particularly this thread. It has been a massive inspiration and source of information and i thank each and every one of you for adding to my brain. Here's just a sample of average photos of my work, hope they please and would love some feedback if you can spare a bloke your two cents,

These all look great. I especially like the red ray gun, straight out of a 1950's sci-fi movie or show. Very cool. I also like the gun with the matching helmet. The rivets on the metal panels is a great touch. Good stuff.

Thanks helpfulnerd.

The ray gun is a 'sauce gun' that you load with tom sauce and mustard. I found an acrylic box and built a stand for it now so it can sit in the middle of the table while you eat. The helmet/ Mav set was for a roller derby Ref mate of mine. his name's 'Reaver' so i tried to get a Reaver ship vibe for the both of them (he doesn't wear the gun on the track tho).

Enough about helmets tho.

So the "Ray Gun" shoots food? or did I read that wrong. Either way, the "Ray Gun" is really freakin awesome.

This is the "not a Nerf gun" that I have been sanding on. I'm gonna turn this into a custom Destiny video game rifle for my destiny cosplay. I've been working on a Destiny MK.44 "Duke" hand cannon out of eva foam here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/destiny-titan-hunter-class-costume-build-231567/

But, I should have a finished "Nerf gun" mod finished in a month or so.

Great job on your guns, keep up the great work!

This is a Nerf Hammershot I painted up in the Hellboy theme.

The handle is covered in real leather.
I cut and modded the part under the dart chamber to fit a small test tube, this is filled with blue mouth wash and has the electrics from a small toy light sabre installed.
There are 3 sliver mystic charms hanging from the grip.
The B.P.R.D symbol was crafted from rigid foam insulation.
Once finished the gun will be mounted on the symbol and hung on the wall.

Neither Nerf nor a gun, but I am hoping someone might have some insight on how to take this apart, and point me in the direction of how to do the modifications I want to do.

It does not light up or make sound (though I want to add both). I picked this one because the hilt is smaller and fits in my hand better than the other's I've tried.
I attempted to unscrew the end and it appears as if it is glued. Anyone played with this before?

I'm a leaf on the wind.

I think you would be better off starting a new post in the Star Wars prop replica forum. You'll get the attention of other lightsaber enthusiast. Also the amount of discussion this might generate might take this thread off topic. Not that you couldn't post a modified toy lightsaber here, just that you tend to still be in the idea phase.

MyFeetAreHappy... no, I didn't take it apart, I SHOULD have to run the wiring, But alas... Painting however is easier for me once it's all together, tape it all up and spray away.
I'm pretty happy with the look of the finished project, and it still functions 100% as a Nerf, so I have that going for me...

I know this has been talked about in earlier posts, but for the life of me I cannot find it.
I am deconstructing a Zombie Sidestrike and I am having difficulty getting the slide off due to this part.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423805902.045635.jpg
How do you get that thing out without breaking the whole thing?

I left the slide attached, and painted the gun with the slide in full forward position.

Looks like that pin is pressed in, and not meant to be removed. If you were determined to get the pin out, maybe you could heat it with a soldering iron to soften the plastic around it, and pull it out with pliers. (I have not tried this, so no guarantees!) Reinstallation might be difficult.

Good luck!

While it's a bit of a pain in the butt, i'd just mask and paint around it, you're probably going to do more harm than good trying to remove it and if it's not for a serious client where it's not going to matter a whole bunch, i'd leave it be.

My first nerf project I'm building a hydra/SSR hybrid from captain america like a cross between buckys sniper rifle and energy weapons they steal from hydra image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg I started with retaliator and took the stock off a slingfire. I'm shopping eBay for some other barrels
