Nerf Gun Props? YES!

Just checked, couple of green and pink ones but the black ones aren't there now :(

I'll keep looking for the one I have, it'll turn up at some point....

I waited a few days after painting to reassemble my Maverick, just to make sure the paint was dry. I tried to disassemble it again today because the fireing action wasn't working and now the dang thing is acting as if I've glued it closed. Did I not wait long enough for the paint to cure and now it is stuck? Anyone else have this happen to you?

Did you mask off the screw sockets inside (the long cylindrical bits that fit together for the screws)? Getting paint on those will do what you described since they're already tight enough to be push fit.

I nearly did the same with the last one, just noticed before I did though so I was able to remove most of the paint first (luckily).

No, I didn't mast the screw sockets. Is there anything that can be done to pry the sides apart or should I just chalk this up to a learning experience?
How does one mask the screw sockets?

You might have to mark that one down to experience, but possibly a mild paint stripper soaking would work after a while.

Masking the screw pillars is easy, just put a bit of masking/sellotape/paper/whatever takes your fancy over all the pillars on both halves before applying primer or paint (for those very new to all this, the pillars circled in red).

Make sure whatever you use to mask them doesn't creep to the outside half of the gun shell, nothing more frustrating than finding out at the end of an awesome painting session that you've accidetally masked off a bit and need to fix it.

Not yo' mama's Alpha Meson blaster . . .

Clearly it's a different model from River Song's gun. Alpha Meson Mk II?

I'm trying to approximate the Whovian appearance with a near-stock shootable NERF gun. Maybe a Firestrike would look better. Next time . . . .

Been forever since I built a blaster(or made a post). This is a Nerf Hammershot. Modded to remove the front cylinder mount and derestricted, it shoots a solid 50 feet. The base paint was Krylon for plastic. I was not real happy with its appearance but it worked great as a primer. The darts are cut down to fit fully in the cylinder.

So, what do you do/use to get that wonderful depth and weathered look around the edges?

On the white Firestrike, grunge in the crevices is an acrylic wash; worn edges are thinned silver enamel rubbed on with a nearly-dry paper towel . . . essentially dry-brush techinque with a paper towel rather than a brush.

This is such an inspiring thread - the level of talent and artistry is simply amazing!

When my kids had finished with them, I painted a couple of Nerf water guns, along with a couple of other cheap sci fi toy pistols and mounted them on a rack for my man-cave. Choose your weapon...

ok, here we go. I've been lingering in the shadows for maybe a few years now, particularly this thread. It has been a massive inspiration and source of information and i thank each and every one of you for adding to my brain. Here's just a sample of average photos of my work, hope they please and would love some feedback if you can spare a bloke your two cents,
