NECA Releasing Prop Portal Gun

Dunno how I feel about the P-Body ver., looks a bit too clone wars (been looking at too many clone helmets I guess) and the contrast of the color lights just aren't great enough. I had a buddy miss out on one of the originals and is trying to score one on ebay for $250 or under, he was very much disappointed to here about the P-Body version and was hoping maybe a "weathered" version was going to come out of the original or something. I doubt it will, but it seems a Atlus version is inevitable.
 
Love the product but refuse to get scalped to purchase one. Too bad NECA did such a low release of them. Seems to be a current trend with the specialty prop as of late, no one has confidence in what they are selling to produce them in higher numbers.

At least Matty changed how they took orders for the hover board so they did not minimally produce them. THAT after sale would have been a disaster had they not done so.
 
OK quick question, anyone here order one from Amazon? I got mine today and it wasn't shipped in a shipping box. It was shipped in the retail box alone which is now all mangled, covered with stickers and tape which I find totally unacceptable. I have never received anything from Amazon like this, anyone else had this experience?

The P-body edition is going to just be a repeat of this, maybe even worse, cause its a specific version. They need to either raise the price per unit or do away with the production limit.

I despise them. People that really want them have to pay a lot more just because some scumbag beat them to it. It reminds of the housing boom when jerks would buy a house, do some half assed work that barely met code, or not, and then sell it for $50 thousand more.

I bought two from Amazon. Although they arrived together in a larger standard shipping box, both retail boxes nonetheless had shipping labels, tape, scratches, dents and dings. It's clear from the shipping labels that NECA shipped them to Amazon without outer boxes. On ebay, it seems that many if not most of the retail boxes have some damage, so maybe they were all shipped from NECA this way? Doesn't matter one bit to me, but obviously many collectors like the boxes to be pristine as well, so it's odd that they were shipped like that.

Mine (from ThinkGeek) did come in a larger box, with packaging material, but the box was still damaged. ThinkGeek warned that the boxes would be damaged on their sales page, in fact, so I'm almost certain they came from NECA that way.
 
Question. I got mine on Wednesday, played with it for no more than an hour, didn't use it for Friday or Saturday, and now the blasted thing won't turn on. And I used fresh batteries! Going to get more so I'll update when I know what's going on. I hope it's not draining the batteries even when it's off.
 
Yep. It drained the batteries. Rather quickly I might add. My Star Wars Master Replicas FX Lightsabers lasted longer than this gun, and that had weaker batteries!

I've played with mine about the same amount over the same time, and the lights and sound are still strong. Perhaps you unfortunately got one with defective electronics. :confused
 
My four kids & I played both o' the Portal games as a group, taking turns with a controller & yelling suggestions at one another - we had a blast. :)

The building of our weighted companion cube is what started my prop obsession! :D

For anyone who had their portal gun pre-order through BBTS cancelled, you get first shot at the P-Body version, but you have to take a few extra steps to reserve one:

Please Note: We are reserving all P-Body Replica stock for customers who had their previous BBTS Portal Gun preorder cancelled - read below for details on reinstating your preorder. From May 16th to May 21st, we are only accepting orders from prior customers with cancelled preorders. We unfortunately do not have records of those orders, as data was deleted when the preorders were deleted - so we cannot automatically re-instate. Neca's site is jammed with a server error and has been for at least the past 15 minutes, everyone trying to figure out where to get them, I guess. Thinkgeek already says out of stock/coming soon, but they are probably doing the same thing as before.
 
That's cool what bbts is doing for the customers who had their orders cancelled. Hope everyone who wants one is able to get the p-body version
