NCR Veteran Ranger- And other Fallout related props.

Re: NCR Veteran Ranger -A work in progress-[Pictures Added 10/20]

I'd like to show off something I have been doing. I went to Big Lots recently and found a few old Halloween signs that light up with Christmas lights for two dollars. The front graphic was busted so I removed it and made my own custom sign. How I did this was take two layers of thin plexiglass, painting the first red with a stencil of the lettering in reverse behind the glass and painted the back of the glass red. I then removed the stencil and frosted the other piece with sandpaper and painted it white on the front. I found the plexiglass in the trashcan at Lowe's and the paint was $1. So overall I made this for $4.

Also worked on my Pip-boy 3000.

@Red Lion-Great work on the suit man! I beleive you are a member of the Wasteland Outpost (which is still undergoing much needed maintenance), I am LIBERTYprime on that site. Your sculpt came out great and I look forward to seeing your MKII.
@Cal- Those are some nice props you have there! I have quite a collection of fallout props myself. I really like your Nuka sign. Everything is coming along great and your combat shotty is off to a great start! Top notch! :thumbsup

Thanks much, Ya Red Lions helmet is awesome. I liked the Wasteland forum on facebook, I'd like to join as soon as it is back up. Can't wait to see nothing but Fallout props in one forum.

I finnaly got to wear my Ranger to a convention, and while it was unfinished I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I whipped up a costume for my girlfriend out of foam in a couple of days too so we could match lol.

That armor is great. The styling is very similar to the Cobra Commander armor I wanna have built.

BTW what weapon is she holding?

Thanks for the compliment. Just get you some poster board and cut out a design that fits your chest then go to work on the mats themselves cutting it out with a big exacto, and it sands really nice as well.

The gun is a Nerf Longshot that I turned into a shotgun . Then put an all copper and steel construction inside so the darts will leave a welp on you lol. I also used a few Ironman pieces that didn't turn out as I had hoped, so I just waste-landed them up and no one even noticed.

Re: NCR Veteran Ranger -A work in progress-[Pictures Added 9/17]

I have been away and have not worked on this much lately. Let me know the results you yield. I am trying something experimental right now myself.
Sorry for the, hold on a sec......carry the 1........4 month overdue reply

The results I got weren't exactly as I had planned. It did work to an extent, the eyes lit up and they were 100% reflective, you couldn't see anything through them from out to in. The problem I had was that due to the rims around the lenses being so damn thin, the light source leaked out through the plastic itself.

An easy fix, I was just going to reconstruct the rims of the lenses from apoxie sculpt, figured that would stop the light from bleeding through.

As usual with me though, I got caught up with more important stuff and before I knew it, it was Christmas.

I'm back working on it now though, I'll keep you updated

Your props and the suit are Amazing, the Game is the best what im played ever in my life.

Thanks for all the compliments. I know my pictures are not all the best, I plan to have a photo shoot with it in about a week. I have still not found anything for the lights Cynder Looks like I just might leave it as is.

No probs, I'll let you know anyway. Depending on how tight a space I can squeeze the wiring and light source into, it might just be a case of popping the lenses out and replacing them with the LED's built in

I started the molds on this replica model Ruger kit that was made in the 70's by Ruger. Using smooth-caste 321 and oomoo 25.

How did you attach the bottom half of the helmet to the top? I am getting ready to work on a Ranger myself and for some reason that is what I'm stuck on - I'm curious as to how you assembled yours for getting it on and off your head.

Great build, too. The coat looks awesome and the weathering on the armor is wicked!

Oh Hey, thanks for the comment. I actually bolted my helmet to the mask so it comes on and off like a motorcycle helmet. You live in Lexington?

This is what I've been working on, if you can see it that is, camera is on its last leg. I molded the main body of the gun, and decided to put a Roadwarrior pep helmet together for fun.
