My Rocketeer Collection Update 12/17 new layout and info

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

ER, how do you feel about the all-metal Disney helmet?

Hey whoever,
I own the Prototype Master Replica Helmet (the one made by disney that was cast off the original) and a Master Replicas final production helmet...I took time to take a picture to show the difference. You can see how squished the helmet is. I took the picture a few feet back with my zoom on to get the perfect shape. The MR helmet is a cool helmet that is made out of metal. There is only two positive things I see about it. 1) it is metal 2) the liner is great...Other than that, the helmet has many flaws. It could have been an amazing helmet, but the flaws ruins it.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

Ah, I had found on one collectibles site that said the Hughes rocketpack prints like in post 1 pic 1 top middle were offered at one point through the Disney Store. Hence my reference to them that way.

I own two different types of blue prints...The one in my pictures came from the stage manager of the film. The other I obtain from a fellow collector. The collector's blueprint was blurry in some areas.

Also, keep in mind that several online websites can have false information...I seen a few rocketeer websites that lack tons of information. or have misleading information....Rocketeer memorabilia is a tricky thing because there isnt much of a guide on what is out there. Due to the poor box office, disney put a halt on most of the rocketeer memorabilia.

Some items could have been in early stages of production but scrap. Only test items exist or thrown away. I was very lucky to obtain a rocketeer buckle a month or so ago. It is the first one I seen after years of collecting

Hmmm... I suppose it's possible they were offered through the Disney Store. I'm certainly not all-knowing so I can't say it's impossible.

Let me put it this way, if the blueprints ever were offered, I've never seen or heard of them in my decade of collecting Rocketeer stuff. At one point or another, just about everything hits ebay eventually and I've been doing daily "Rocketeer" searches faithfully for nearly the past decade (sad to say, I mean that quite literally).

The only ones I'm personally aware of are the original production copies and copies made from those none of which were licensed to my personal knowlege...

Rob

I have my doubts about it being offered through the disney store. We would be seeing a lot more of them on ebay. I think the confusion came from a seller on ebay a few years ago. He sold several large blue prints claiming they were fully license items. However, it seems like he made a false claim to avoid legal action from disney...The problem these days is that a seller on ebay can list whatever he wants about the item. Doesnt necessary mean it is true..

Haha, Rob, you and me both. I do searches on ebay all the time for rocketeer memorabilia. Also, it helps me because I keep track how much items go for, so I know not to over pay in the future.

The production copy I received just came with a COA and info from the movie and the stage the film was filmed on

Well diligence trolling ebay paid off in the last 2 weeks. I get the feeling for some reason I just scooped the 1st shovel of a new money pit hole.

I started my hole 7 years ago..any further than i will be in china haha

Great score. I have that version in my closet in a tube somewhere. The main difference between that version and the production version is the coloring and that version is somewhat blurry in a certain area or wording is off or something..kinda hard to explain...

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

Coming from one Rocketeer lover to another, have you built the Pepakura Rocketeer helmet yet, and if you have I know there are a couple inaccuracies but I was hoping you could help me with.

I passed on that due to some other big ticket props. Damn Maltese Falcon and trying to ship a console radio from Canada.

To be honest, no I havent and I will probably never build one. I am behind in making the rocketpack. Also, I doubt it would ever be close to accurate. The rocketeer helmet is complex with different shapes and curvatures

There is a member on the board that is in the process of making the pepakura helmet..here is the thread

Please explain about the wording. I posted before about a full size blueprint of the Rocketpack. The seller claimed it was made from the original. I think around the time of the movie. I thought it was fake since they weren't selling fast. I think there were more than 10 of them.

The seller also had the South Seas Club menu. Which isn't seen in the film. I think this is the one:

Rocketeer, The (1991), Rocketeer South Seas Club Menu, original / screen-used

I can't remember the seller's name...I still need to pick up both rocketpack drawings. Although, I prefer the Hughes' one just because it has that factory look to it.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

the wording is smeared on the blue version...like it was copied off a damage/water damage copy of a production copy...it is in a small section of the blueprint...

I know what version you are talking about...It could have been a blown up version of the original...original size isnt that big..I think he stop selling it because Disney hit him with a C&D order...cant remember the full story. I maybe wrong, just what I heard around the grape vine..but the size isnt accurate

There were several props made for the film, but wasnt shown or used...The south seas menu was one of them...I obtain a menu and bill holder from a disney auction...

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 8/24)

Thanks for the info. Can you put up an interior shot of the South Seas Club menu? I just want to see what else they had besides soup...

I will update this thread the upcoming weeks maybe in a week or two depending if everything comes in time...I am waiting for a few more items being shipped. I finally got one of my items after it was sent to the wrong area twice... Rather than posting as they come in, I will just make one big update...

That was you that outbid me on the bluprint of the hanger? I passed on a banner last night as well. Too much else going on.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 12/1)

That's a whole lot of Rocketeer - and it all looks amazing!

I tossed in a bid on the blueprint too. I thought nobody else had seen it but I guess I should know better...

Yeah, I put in my bid, and then I see it jump to twice what my max was on it. It truly went to the person who wanted it most.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (updated 12/1)

Fascinating thread, especially the comparison between the MRL prototype and the MRL production. Although I'm really a beginner with Rocketeer, having seen the top-down comparisons, I agree that the MRL is nice as a metal helmet, but it's a far cry from something of more original proportions.

May I ask: how wide and how deep should an "accurate" helmet be? Are there measurements available?
