Re: My homemade ESB Darth Vader Costume
I've been quiet for the last few weeks, but here's progress so far:
Complited the mask interior, along with padding, 3 fans (two blowing in, one in the mouth blowing out), and bluetooth speaker. It's small enough to fit in lower mouth vent, and really loud. The phone will be under the robe and will be playing a 30 minute loop of Vaders' breathing, with a quote at every second minute. I was thinking about how to let myself know when the qoute is coming, and I found a solution that before every quote a breathing will jump out of rythm (about 1/2 second). Noone will know except me hopefully.
Mask and dome are held in place with two very strong neo magnets. Only thing left to do is to add some material behind the lenses to hide my eyes in case of camera flash.
Getting the armor finished was a bit trickier, since I had much trouble with a clearcoat. After a week of struggle I managed to finish it.
Few posts ago I mentioned that there's no gunmetal to buy as a regular spray paint. I was WRONG haha I found it in a store and luckily it matches with my custom made gunmetal perfectly.
I also made a lightsaber hook out of 1.5mm aluminium.
Time is running out and on Sunday I'm going to the first fitting at my seamstress. Wish me luck
