MR Stormtrooper Helmet

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the MR Stormtrooper Helmet so far? Based on the pictures I

have seen it doesn't look quite right. I know it's a prototype but thought it would be useful if people offer

their insights on it anyway. I am really looking forward to this helmet and I hope that MR gets it right and

nails it, otherwise it will be disappointing.

So far from the pics I have seen the overall shape of the helmet seems okay but there is something wrong

with the mouth. It looks too big for the 'Hero' Stormie. It also does not look sharp enough. The other thing I

noticed is that the ear caps look too sharp and square. Also, I thought that the 'Hero' bubble lenses were

grey, not green?

The MR Stormtrooper Helmet at the UK Toyfair seemed more accurate, although there were not many good

pictures of it. Anyone know if those two helmets are the same or different prototype versions?

MR will have to have a product they can sell to 'Joe Public' and to be honest the more hardcore purist Stormtrooper fans will not get what they want.

MR can't please everybody I suppose if they put out an exact casting of a lumpy bumpy stunt helmet made from the same materials used for the film most people would recoil in disgust at paying for such a thing.

That said it looks ok it looks slightly soft on features and has the bump on the right eye which makes it look more stunt than hero.

It will be an excellent purchase for anybody who wants an idealised helmet no doubt.

It is only a prototype so time will tell on the product that hits the streets.

I really hope they get it right as it would be a jewel in the crown of MR if they did.

Cheers Chris.

It is my understanding it is a scan of a TE helmet.

It really deosn't make any sense to judge their products until that actually get them out.

But considering their history with helmet production, I certainly am not anticpating anything worth buying or anytime soon.

But good luck to them.

there are new pics???

id say posting the pics would be a cool thing to do... :unsure

scanned from a TE? :confused

do tell.

and PLEASE someone give me a link to the newer pics...

Scanned from a TE? From my armchair, I'd wonder about that intel. Why would MR do that if they had access to the LFL archives? If I owned a real trooper helmet, I'd be wary of getting it anywhere near an official LFL licensor / agent.

I think the it looks like a nice solid helmet at the moment...not accurate to any one particular example, but a nice idealization. On the flip side, I do agree with others that it's too early to have a meanigful discussion on anything BUT the look of the prototype.

Because the only trooper helmets in the archive are ROTJ and SE. That said, I have no idea if the TE rumor is true.

The bridge of the nose on the prototype looks bulbous and swollen. Not condemning the product at this early stage, though. (Although how early is it? We saw a prototype at last year's toyfair, too.)

To my knowledge it is not from the TE source.

I have it on good authority where MR got the original stormtrooper helmet from. The helmet used for reference is not one from the archives either.

I am not saying that MR have only used one source and if Matt has had anything to do with the MR helmet and anybody knows any different from what I have been told then please chime in :) .

Treadwell there is a stunt and a hero ANH in the LFL archive Braks Buddy posted pics of them in the past.

Actually here is the pic of the helmets in the archive Braks if you have any problem with me using your pic please PM me and I will take it down.

That's not entirely correct. I've never been to the archives, but I have seen a few recently taken photos, included a couple that were made public, showing at least two ANH stunt helmets and an ANH hero helmet in the archives.

Thanks to Graeme (JangoFettJR) and his friend for sharing the photo.

I saw their TK helmet proto at CIII. Steve was nice enough to remove it from the display case , so as to get a closer look. I liked it, but I am not a purist. It is a "cleaned-up" version, meaning it was scanned and the asymmetries cleaned-up in the computer and CNC'd. It looks very nice.

True purist will not like it because it lacks the wonkyness of an original; all others will wet their pants.

Here is another of the LFL archive Hero. Again if Braks doesn't want this posted then please PM me and I will take it down.

Sorry for going OT but after people talking about the LFL archive ANH helmets thought I would post.

All I know is that if the final product looks like the proto I will be planting my beans somewhere else. I have

to agree, the symmetrical proto they had a year or so ago looked better. But this new proto looks like a

mish mash of styles. If MR is doing the wonky assymmtrical version they have to go all the way and not mix

different helmets together.

Looks like the Fett helmet proto is more promising thus far, although I am no Fett expert.

heres a pic i found online of MR stromtrooper helmet
[/b]

I believe that is the symmetrical one from a year or so ago. Looks better than the one they had at the recent Toyfair IMO.

Guys, the Proto showed off at the 2005 toy fair was not the same as the 2007 proto.

The 2005 was imo a recast (but amended) GF - the dome's a giveaway. Whereas the 2007 is totally different. If anyone wants to share the info I'd be interested in hearing (pm if necessary). I like the 2007 but think theyve mixed the Hunt and Stunt look up.

Oh and the proto showed off at the UK Toy Fair earlier in the month was an SDS Battle Spec. Apparently someone piked it up and the sticker was still on the inside.

Cheers

Jez,

You have been posting in both the threads running on this topic and gotten a bit discombobulated I think ;)

Surely Hero and Stunt :) I am definitely copyrighting the Shunt trooper before MR gets it.

Cheers Chris.

Dunno about Hunt and Stunt, Jez but IMO the MR trooper helmet looks like a c**t. :lol

As others have said, MR have to release an idealised version to appeal to the masses... whilst the purists amongst us would pay top-dollar for a khaki-coloured HDPE vac-formed helmet moulded from an original helmet, with thick white paint flaking off, a bumpy cap 'n' back and badly painted 'decals'... I can just imagine the 99% of helmets which would be returned to MR complaining of Q.C. issues, and demanding refunds.

Also I don't think collectors would be too happy with paying several hundred £££ / $$$'s for vac-formed plastic, so I can kinda understand their decision to go with fibreglass..
Bleh, just another reason to stick with superior *unlicensed* Star Wars prop replicas :)

Cheers,
John

Originally the price tag was estimated at $99 for the symmetrical CE, $199 for the LE, and can't remember the amount for the wonky EE, but I think it was probably in the $300-400 range.

Would have loved the cheap CE helmet.
