MR Fett rifle pics at Rebelscum

Think this pretty much says it all...

I had to do a dbouble take on that first picture. At first glance, I thought it was some photoshop/cartoon drawing of the blaster. I think the biggest problem is that the weathering is so defined at the edges, instead of being subtle and feathered.

Lee, thanks for the great walk-thru of the process. Very interesting reading.

I believe it's understood that neither you or MR would be able to share the photos of the original props that were used in the paint masters- but I'm curious whether it would be possible to share any photos of your painted prototypes. I'd love to see what you put together for the factory to use. Might also help folks get a good idea of what to aim for with their own, inevitable, repaints.

Wow, Lee's paint job is smokin' (to be expected). The production piece actually looks like they tried to make a more complex paint job. Lee's seems much more subtle. Maybe the "technique" makes all the difference?

As a base piece the MR looks like a great place to start.

:thumbsup

Yeah, maybe it's just a case of "less is more" and the factory painters were just a little overzealous in their application. We've seen it before with MR production pieces.

See... THAT'S what I'm talking about. No offense to you, MandalorFett, but If I was to drop that much cash on a licensed prop, I would want it to look perfect!

I do not have the skills that many of you have, so I would not think of this as a fixer-upper.

I just hope the Fett bucket will look much better. I've got my sights on that, but I'm losing hope now :cry

Lee your master was superb but that final MR one...sheesh.I am not a Fett expert but I agree with other opinions that if I were to drop that much cash on a replica from MR I would want something much better and not a base piece as a place to start. That MR one does not look good.

Wow's Lee's "more subtle" approach works... MR's... well, doesn't quite work. Here's hoping that maybe the one on Rebelscum was just a bad paint job and others will be a bit better. Fingers crossed.

Anyone that knows me knows I am NOT a fan of MR. With that being said, I don't think the rifle sucks. Granted, I's not spot on, but that's stuff WE can do, and o don't think it would detract from the value. So long as it's all there and accurate, it's a pretty good starter piece. Does anyone know for sure if it's all metal?

When my LE arrives, I will most likely repaint it.

I'm waiting to see other members to post pics of theirs to see if the original MR paint job is consistent from one blaster to another.

Its great that some people hear can and will repaint their blasters.
I however would never consider paying 500+ for what amounts to an unfinished starter model kit. These are limited collectibles and once they are modified , appeal to an entirely different market. In the pics in this thread, the MR sadly looks painted like a toy, i wont be getting one ...

I think that's the route I'm going too. Also as someone pointed out when the price was first announced, the case alone would cost a bundle to have made. It's just a bummer that someone at Lucasfilm actually signed off on the final production paint job.

So sometime in August I may be back with a thread on painting that thing! :)

Why wouldn't it be? Seemed to be the norm for EPIII helmets...

Has anyone else noticed the weathering
on this is the same as the scaled version?

If you have the mini, take a look.

Just another reason why I stopped buying props from master replicas
but here is a good idea for master replicas.

Sell the Fett rifles un-painted for half price, and let the buyer paint it them self's.

Sorry that is just me thinking out loud again :confused

Does anyone think this isn't too bad of a deal
considering the blaster itself looks good and it comes with a case?

Would real parts, the work to build it and a case
be less that $500.00?

well, not that bad deall.... I think it may not be a BAD deal, but off course, it's NOT a good deal...

You buy a MR replica finished, and it was supposed to be "perfect"... but then you see that if you want it to be similar the the original one (which they had access :|), you have to repaint it, and off course, it will loose its collectibity (I really dont care that).

But it's a shame.. I bought it cause it would be perfect finished, and I'd simply have to get it and forget about it... (no paint, no weathering, no asembling)... but now, it's like another kit... :(

Well, it's a pity, I only hope they can do it better with the boba helmet.
