I can't wait for Sycor to get his shipping notices! This is the 1st Trek item I haven't direct ordered from MR, but the savings were to good to pass up...

Looks like they changed the base color on there trek items, they were blues but looks like there going with now

Wow, I wasn't sure if they'd ever start shipping these. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on the tricorder.

"The phaser is very light. It's all plastic. I felt this weapon should have some 'heft' to it. The classic phaser has a metal power pack/grip. That gave it some weight. This feels more like a toy. Thus, it will look great displayed but not so great to hold. I'll be curious to see what others think."

Well that's disappointing. I expected heft as well.

Oh well.

Maybe there is a way to add weight to it later.

Here was a blurb from the MR page.
So something must be metal.

-High quality machined and die-cast metal and injection molded ABS construction

Oh - I was hoping for a little heft - like their TOS Phaser.

I guess the metal on this one's the aluminium emitter.

Overall, I think it looks great and I can't wait to get mine.

I think people who ordered direct from MR will get them first. Back when MR first came out with the TOS Comm, I ordered from both MR and a dealer and I got it from MR months before the dealer even got them in stock. When I asked him about it, he said that MR delivers to customers first and then to dealers. I don't know if that is still what they do, but I sure hope it isn't.

Maybe once the batteries are in it, it will have some more weight to it. There were supposed to be some pieces made of metal, I hope they didn't change that too.

grrrrr Need to call sales rep now. I want my shippment! (And I'm sure you guys want your phasers)

I can't believe they made the body from plastic as noted on the thread. I hope they have gotten that fact wrong.

It was supposed to be ABS, maybe they thought the ABS was plastic. I really hope that is the case.

Sounds like the bells and whistles are all there and some neat surprises...

"I verified that the cooling fin at the back and the nozzle are in fact metal. I put in batteries and tried out the lights and sounds. The phaser makes a confirmation sound when the mag is slapped into place. (Very cool!) The firing sound is very authentic and clear. As I was testing it, several people at my studio came in to see what was going on since the sound was pretty loud. :)There is a sound when you switch between the firing settings. There is a light on the back of the phaser that lights green when firing. The hole in the nozzle lights up during firing. With the phaser housing open, the Type 1 lights up."

Why was I under the impression that this was supposed to be metal, while the tricorder would be mostly molded plastic.

...and yeah. ABS is plastic.
