Looking fantastic, was it a rugular oil wash you used?

Nope i only use Tamiya acrylics for everything i do. The wash was Tamiya Matt Black with thinner. I have so many Tamiya paints that it makes sense to use them. If i thought it was getting handled alot i would have used oils and enamels , but other than me , i can see anyone picking this up!
Heres a better shot. Everything forward of the red line has been painted. Theres a subtle difference between the white and the off white.

Just my preference. It just means more top coat to cover it. Thats why i like doing the black wash instead. I have always found that with Tamiya paints, i get better results this way. I used to do alot of preshading but i have found better results with post shading. All part of the fun! I like to try different techniques!

I'm kinda pickin everyone's brains at the mo before I attempt my repaint. Is it not wise to add oil washes to acrlyic paint & would this create problems if another coat of acrylic was added? Is there any combinations of paint that should be avoided? Iv'e must have read through hundreds of posts of Falcon painting & my head is swimming!!! Grime /reefer white mix .....White/deck tan mix...... camouflage grey ahhhhhhhh. Every Falcon looks great but with such difference of opinions its hard for a novice to pick out whats best. I intend to tackle a complete repaint as with yours but dont get my cheap AJ Falcon til mid Nov. I have bought the airbrush & compressor just need to decide on what type of paint, Tamiya, Testors, enamel, Acrylic ..ahhhhhhh. I think I like the model masters colours but not sure if enamel or acrylic is best. Any good advice during this great walkthrough would be imensly apreciated.

Not really. The only place was the cockpit it was full of superglue vapour residue and the rear seats were very crooked. Other than that all is well.

Heres todays progress. First of all i airbrushed all of the upper markings. Pheeew what a lot of masking! The grey panels are a mixture of 2 Tamiya paints , i cant remember which i just tipped them in! Yes i know i have missed a grey panel near the radar. The red , which i think is perfect , is a mixture of flat red nato brown and brown. This is what it must have looked like when it was rolled out of the factory!:lol

Now the real fun parts starts. The weathering. I have only used one colour in the weathering so far. Its a mixture of Tamiya greys and browns. It really is starting to tone down the paintwork now.

I also set out the basic rear stain.

Oh yes forgot about them. If someone can show me where they all go i will. Im not too fussed. By the way to answer your earlier question , the paint didnt hide any details. I used Games workshop skull white spray paint as an undercoat.

Looks Great! But I was going to ask the same thing about all the little = markings. If you are going for a completely accurate paint scheme you will have to relocate and repaint all the little = markings, which may prove to be a tedious task.

The center panel also has some larger - markings that are red.
