MR Falcon slight repaint

OK i did well. I held off a while before touching my SE Falcon. The paintjob was actually very good from the start. I dont know if the signature edition ones were painted better on purpose or if i just got lucky. There was only a couple of things i didnt really like. The staining was too black on the mandibles and rear deck and the blast marks were not dark enough!
Here it is before.

I had a little go with my airbrush and got the whole thing looking spot on! I added a little more weathering and some more blast marks. Now im 100% happy with it.

Looks Awesome!

How did you get Han in there :). Chewie must be working on they hyperdrive.

Looks like you redid the panel on the hull with the main blast marks, looks real nice. What color ended up working for you as a base?

Looks good to me Andrew, nice job buddy, i love the fact youve put Han in there, keep us posted on Chewie!

I'll have to try that when mine arrives. It's certainly less distracting to the eye, and enhances the shape of the vessel from above.

I won an SE on eBay last week. The seller is delivering it on Saturday morning.

Did you repaint the whol thing or spots... because if you did spots you did a mighty fine job of matching the base color.

I do miss all those litt double hask marks and circles though - although to be honest I never saw them on the original unitl I saw pics of the model sitting there so... how important can they be ;)

Honestly the paint on your original wasn't that bad... Mine is pretty good except for the side-panels - whoever painted them felt compelled to make them dark... and mine are indeed dark...

Tamiya paints huh... do you have the numbers for them?

Thanks,
Jedi Dade

The side panels on mine are darn near black! I went to the hobby store and picked up some Tamiya Deck Tan and White after reading this. I don't have the number here, but if you can find Deck Tan you can't go wrong. With white for the base color they are an excellent match. I can't wait to get started.

I only did a few small patches as there was no real need to do it all. I suggest getting a Tamiya Deck Tan XF-55 and adding small amounts of wHITE xf-2 to it. I used a mix of 50/50 German Grey and Earth for the dirtying up. Its a reall good match to the smoke colour that is used.

I picked up my display case today. Its bloomin mahoosive. It makes the models look much better (but our lounge smaller!) I got it from a Local company to me here in the UK at a VERY good price. I know where to get my display cases from in the future! Heres some photos for you.
