...and balls of steel. I dont know if I'd want to do that to a brand new $400 helmet.

:eek

You said it Jez :eek I opted out of getting an MR Stormtrooper for the simple fact that I don't have the Kahunas to weather one :confused

Here's what a "little" weathering can do... :D

Nobody is going near my Star Corps helmet with a paint brush. :p

Unless it is to flick off the occasional bit of settled dust during it's harsh life looking pretty behind a glass display cabinet. :p :D

I just got mine and I have to say it is beautiful.
It does fit my head.
and looking out you can see perfect.

That looks to me like Fuller's Earth. Official method of the "I wanna troop in my clean TK but pretend I'm a dirty sandtrooper" crowd.;) Spray on some aquanet hair spray, dust on the FE, and VOILA, weathered. If you want it clean again, just wash it off.

Not sure about the black, though.

Mine just arrived today, #57, and it fits my head perfectly.... I don't even want dust to land on it, let alone weathering.... Plus I just got the heads up from Dave, that the Special Ops will be shipping to him on the 11th

I would do it in a heart beat.

Not much different then taking and weathering a $250- 350+ fan made ABS Gino, TE, GF, Authentic props, ETC... Trooper helmet and turning it into a sandtrooper helmet and then displaying it and or wearing it. ;)

No guts, no glory... :D ;)

The collectablity issue is not an issue to me on something like this.

I'm so on the fence about weathering this one. The only thing holding me back is the orange stripe. I'd be tempted to scuff and scratch it to get the look accurate. For that I'd prefer to just paint up a regular white clone..

That's precisely what I'm doing. :)

I'll be keeping to super limited ones as-is and painting the cheaper, white ones.

Definitely the way to go. :)

I am also wondering if we will see some even cheaper versions produced for the upcoming CE line, possibly in molded plastic?

I'd be tempted to do that too. I bet the white ones will come up on ebay quite cheaply in a while as theyre not limited in numbers

For those saying it is craxy to weather such a collector's item... Pffffttt. That is my exact plan when my helmet comes in. I bought the all white helmet specifically for the purpose of painting it up. Damn all this "collector" and "collectibility" and mass-marketed hype... This is MY helmet and I want it MY way. Heh heh. I LOVE seeing these things weathered up. :)

Not everyone who uses FE is in that crowd... some of us think it is the best looking weathering method out there. ;)
