It's not that the helmets are out of scale, it's that you're out of scale with the CG files... now go lose some head fat.

With that witty reparte the MR should fit you perfectly. It appears your head is already 7% too small.

Ben:

I completely agree. I should have said that if one were so inclined and really wanted to pick nits, Master Replicas, to cover all their bases, should have:

a) not have advertised the helmet as wearable WITHOUT a one-size-does-NOT-fit-all caveat

or

B) not mentioned wearability whatsoever

I never intended to wear this anyway.

Let's stop arguing. It's a beautiful piece.

Kev, thanks for the clarification.  Then, okay, I stand corrected.

However, the debate then becomes that Master Replicas should have stated that one size does NOT fit all.

See, I can admit when I'm wrong.

Thanks.

It´s more than clear that if you make any costume, helmet or whatever MOVIE SIZE cannot be a "ONE SIZE FIT ALL"... Image that you are a big guy, or fat one.. with a big head... This would be insane...

It´s MOVIE ACCURATE, 1:1 size... that means that is an especific size... not a ONE SIZE FIT ALL ... ...

We are not kids, we should not need everything chewed... It´s understood...

Yeah, exactly.....this is getting a little silly...

JP05......it's a nice lid.

.....can't wait for this to start again when the MR Vader lid comes out..... :lol

Well I guess I upset AT by my last comment. He thought I was being less than mature. Oh well. Time to get over it. :cry ;)

The <sigh> was for how silly this thread is getting on some points. I mean if one size does not fit all....lets get real nitpicky. Its too big for my three year old son and daughter. They can't walk with it on. Damn MR.....not telling me it would not fit them. :lol :lol :lol

Come on now. Lets just enjoy the helmet. And agree to disagree on some of the finer points.

Maybe MR should've said what size head the helmet would fit.

As for the paint job, MR is said to be filled with Star Wars fans.
Would it be too difficult to get on the phone with LFL and say, " Yo I just saw the movie, and I noticed something funny..." ?

Has anyone heard from Dave the bookie on when the Special Ops will ship?
-Goldenrod

This is the last I heard from him:

Yes, your order is still in place.  I apologize, but I have not been on the boards in several weeks.  A lot going on with work, the holidays, etc.  The last update I got from Master Replicas stated that the Special Ops helms would start shipping in January, so hopefully they are going to live up to that date this time.  A good indication that they might is the Red 501st helms that were a Starwarsshop.com exclusive item have begun shipping.  So the movement of any helms is a good sign.

I will let everyone know when I need the final payments for the helms.

Let´s see if MR start shipping those OPS helmets and we get ours... ANY NEWS ABOUT EXACT DATES ???

I can't believe that went unchecked. That appears to be a CoC violation... and I am clear on CoC here. I have been personally introduced to it...formally.

That being said, and my improved familiarity with the CoC, that remark was downright mean and insulting about Tim. Tim is a great guy, and I met him in person, and he is not a fat-head.

I say go to bat for friends, defend what is right, point out what is wrong with an objective tone, do not cower while being honest, and live truthfully. If banishment results in any scenario while behaving under these generalized statements, then truth can't exist.

In my opinion, I believe the MR helmets are scaled a bit too small based on Tim's pics. The finish on the MR is cleaner and more refined. The MR paint job still has an error for what it is supposed to be.

This debate is really getting old.... Its obvious some like it , and some don't... If you like it, then buy it, if you bought it and don't like it, sell it, if its just the paint job that bothers you, repaint it, but damn, stop complaining about it

I have a fairly large head size 7-1/2. I just recieved my helmet #390 and I was able to fit my head into the helmet with no problem. I can see if your head was more wider it might be an issue, it just depends on your head shape. Realistically you can't expect this to fit everyone as I have seen some people that have no business trying to squeeze themselves into a stormtrooper outfit.

Seeing out is another issue :) But thats just a design issue caused by LFL not making a helmet that was practical as long as it was visually appealing to George.

The only issue I would have are some dull spots in the finish, some minor paint sags in the grey.

For $400 its a nice helmet. Can't wait for the others, although my CC could :)

I don't read that comment being directed at anybody in particular. Regardless, if anybody here is offended by the words "head fat" I oh so very sincerely apologize and suggest you see a psychologist... unless you're on the Tom Cruise kick.

And to launch such an unsolicited attack against, me for shaaaaame.

For shaaaaaaaame.

OK it's a new year, so time to make changes. I give in. When the majority says 2+2=5, it must be 5.

1) The MR helmet is the correct screen size, as Barry said "The CloneTroopers seen throughout Episode III, we're all scaled at different heights" so one of those sizes, even if by accident must equal the MR size. I would even say the slight upsizing of the LFL downsizing (still downsized) while DIFFERENT than the "screen accurate" CGI files, still fits the dramatic license definition of multiple scales used within the film.

2) The MR helmet is perfectly scaled to Clone Trooper armor, not consistent with helmet to armor ratio in LFL concept art basis of the painting, but on this one, again, dramatic license can be taken. I even met a couple of clone troopers of rather thin frame at C3 that it probably would look good, complimentary. There ARE smaller helmets that ARE correctly scaled, like the DXFR RC bucket. Great helmet, correct relative scale, so it has nothing to do with it just needs to be bigger.

3) The MR helmet meets the definition of helmet, well it does fit me despite insults, so it must be a helmet.

4) The StarWarsShop advertisement more than half a year before delivery, despite being correct, must be wrong. Of course the movie with the accurate depiction was out for 3/4 a year before delivery too. There is probably a truth in advertising or a liability issue here, so I'll delicately side step this one.

I'll sleep better tonight knowing I'm absolved for having the nerve to impune the omniscient MR, despite having spent more on MR products and possessing more MR clone hemets, and likely going to spend more than 95% of the commenters that neither have the helmet nor want anyone to think there outlay in cash could have anything wrong with it. If da helmet fit, do not convict, or something like that. I'm back at the altar, and having seen the error of my ways I can go off now an open up my Nautilus. It's a new year, and I had already forgotten this thread a couple days ago after the maturity of head fat, and only came back because some one pointed out a comment on insults. Well, the book is closed. I am STILL getting the other 2 helmets, and they will STILL look great on the shelf next other helmets with differing attributes. :) Happy New Year.

Tonkatroopa, thanks for the pictures.

They are gorgeous.

That helmet is fantastic. A true piece of art.

Thanks for sharing.

Hector

ps - Happy New Year.
