Movie Deadpool costume!!

Check out the red spandura. All the qualities of spandex with the look of cordura. Plus I've found a way to permanently dye spandex.

LOL literally just started looking for these. I got a buddy that might be able to make them. Those aren't bad but they aren't quite right. I have some plans and there are some consistency issues with those from the movie ones. Thanks for the link though. If my buddy or one of my other leather guys can't do It I'll look into these again. Seems a little pricey and not a fan of the velcro attaching but not bad. Thanks.

The pouches seem pretty good to me but I agree with you that they're not 100% accurate. And $120 does seem too much when you can have someone else make them

[Update]So spent all of last night and a few minutes this morning working on this. Now I just need to figure out how to make it. I'd like to do Stainless Steel with (magnets in the female end) as that's what it looks like on the suit anyone got any ideas?

This is his neck right? Where the mask tucks into the neck?

I honestly can't tell from the picture, but at first glance this is what came to mind. I know this isn't the exact thing, but this is what it reminded me of

But for all we know, it's just for show. It could have just been something laying around the shop that the costume creator thought looked nice to take the eye away from the zipper right next to it.

I honestly don't think these metal clasps have any function, they're just for show. You shouldn't worry about making them functional.

@ Ichibans13: Yea thats his neck.
Psycho815: yea still an issue of making it. As well as dealing with that whole collar area seeing as how it covers the top section of the zipper. I have some idea's but I'll have to experiment with it as time goes on.

I found some pictures that I haven't seen posted here yet. they provide some detail on the hidden straps that go inside his uniform. And here's a couple pictures that give a better angle for seeing the gloves.

No prob! I'm going to go to this leather shop today to see how well they can make the pieces that go over the laces on his boots. If they do well, I'm going to have them make the shin guards.

[Update] Got my spandex samples in, what do you guys think looks the closest? My wife thinks the Red and black stretch leather is the best but personally I think it's a little thin. The black on the bottom left and the middle top red are heavy weight almost neoprene thick spandex which I think might look a little better. What do you guys think? Obviously the thick stuff is gonna be a lot warmer but if it looks better its worth it right?

I don´t know if you´ve already seen this picture but you can really see the detail in the fabric.. it might help a bit with the accuracy.

Depending on the shots, the red fabric can look anywhere between cordura to leather. One thing to keep in mind is that with magazine and promotional photos, a lot of the photo is actually created using programs like photoshop and illustrator. There is an excellent video of this on youtube somewhere showing how they created a promotional shot for the Spider-Man movie completely in photoshop with no original image.

@Deadpoolx07 What do you know about weathering? I made a post on my build thread, and I know there's been a lot of posts and threads here about weathering but I haven't found much about what to apply and how to apply "stuff" to cordura or similar material to make it look dirty like the movie suit. Do you have any advice (aside from rolling around on the ground or dragging the costume down the road hanging off my car lol)?

That brings up a good point. Is either version (the promo images or the practical suit) more accurate than the other? Or are they both equally so?

Another way to look at it: is the CGI/PS version the filmmakers' "perfect vision" ('cause they can do anything with the computers, don'cha know), and the practical suit is the closest they can get in real life, accommodating for real-life issues for Reynolds and his stunt double (breathing, mobility, vision, etc.).

Or is the practical suit the winner, with the CGI/PS version just a variable design where production and marketing teams tweak it ever so slightly here and there, depending on what the promo image requires?

So I'm still figuring a lot of that out myself but from what I've found man some of the best things to use are coffee grounds, stains and paints. I haven't had much experience in it and it's defiantly a challenge to find that happy middle of weathered but not destroyed. As I said earlier, I'm still very much trying to get back in shape and loose some pounds so It might be a while before I even get to the making of the costume. Hell I'm still trying to find the "perfect fabric" think ive spent about 50 bucks on swatches just trying to find the right red. It's a fine line and it's really hard to give you a straight answer all I can say is research, watch vids and see what others have done.
