Deadpool and Wolverine Deadpool suit- help please!

Hi everyone.
I’m getting back into costume making after a nearly 30 year break.
And of course, I have chosen to make the Deadpool suit!

Now I am in regional Australia, so I am limited to what I can get material wise etc.
I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis so this costume I am estimating will take me nearly a year or more to make.

I MAY HAVE found a source for some material online out here. Mainly the red one.

I really want to try and make this from scratch.. gloves included,,,.and sew the whole thing… but there are a few problems in sourcing pattern etc I am worried about.

Can anyone share any pointers/hints/tips with me? All info will be greatfully received.

Going to try and use EVA foam where I can.. that I can source….
I don’t have access to a 3D printer but have a friend who will make any 3D stuff for me.

Yes me, a now 56 year old female, who is a grandmother, wants to make a Deadpool costume!

If I am allowed, I will post links to the fabric I have sourced for the suit…. But any other sources would be appreciated.

Does your friend have a 3d printer to help with your mission?
Yes he does. And he is very good at it.

Sewing doesn’t really worry me.

For 5he armour I am looking at either EVA foam and covering it with imitation leather. I think that is the best I can do.

But I am just worried how to attach the shoulder armour on.

Also the calf armour worries me, seeing as it is done up with a zip. I know it can be done…..
Damned ADHD brain!

I’d definitely take advantage of his ability to 3d print you the accurate armor pieces, then you could easily pattern off of them for EVA which would end up softer/more comfortable.

Thanks for the idea!

Do you know where I can get the patterns for him?

Also, can I get your opinion on the fabric for his suit?

Yeah it’s definitely Lycra with textured screen printing, I’d imagine it is difficult to find a matching fabric if they custom made it. One company that I’m pretty sure offers the fabric specifically to match Deadpool and Wolverine is Parallel Life studios, I think they also have matching fabric for previous Deadpool movies as well.

his is the site in Australia I have found.

My next alternative is to get Lycra and colour it.

Not sure which colour is closest but I’ll attach both the links. And both have spandex in them.

Definitely depends how close you want to have the costume upon close inspection. This is what the fabric printing look like up close, which why it’s stretchy but from a distance looks almost looks like leather.

I'll be selling 3d printed parts that are accurate to the Deadpool and Wolverine costume soon. I already have the chest pieces, rib pieces, neck buckles, shin buckles, holster buckles, and chest knifes.

Eureka!
I have found someone out here in Australia that will print the design onto the Lycra for me!!!

Happy days…. Yes it will cost me a small fortune…. But I definitely want the authenticity…..

They just require a better photo than the one above…now does anyone have a photo of the material out flat???

Now looking at a 3d pattern for all the clips, and the back on if the hands.
The hands I am makin* a plaster cast of m6 own, and then will make the gloves from scratch.

Not sure where I can source the black fabric for these out here, but I a:still looking.
In the movie, it looks like the red part is a mesh fabric. As the suit will be fairly warm to wear, I’ve bought red speaker mesh for them.

With the shin guards, they look like Snake gaiters…..so I will be basing them off these. I’ll be making them with EVA foam covered in material.

I will also add tha5i do have some trouble walking due to rheumatoid arthritis, so the lighter the better.

I’ve also found some boots in my size out here I will be using strictly for this costume. Didn’t cost me a packet. With the boot armour, th8nking about making a sock like cover for them, attaching under the boot with a plastic release buckle or Velcro, and attaching the “sock cover” to my boot with a thin Velcro. Will also attach red fabric to the heel and wherever else I can find it needs to go. The top of this cover will go over the boot, and I’ll use elastic, like a sock gator, to hold them in place. These will all go u der the shin armour.

Link to the boots I got.

Please bear in m8 d I am on a disability pension so I have to do this on a really tight budget.

I know s9me things will have to be bought overseas.

I am, estimating at least a 12 month build time, due to sickness, university study and outside commitments. My house is also currently undergoing renovations, so I will have to wait 7ntil that’s all finished before I start.

Thanks for all of your help so far.
