Metal Gear Solid Props - Guns, Gear and Gadgets

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4 Props - Snakes Operator

UPDATE: MGS4 "Operator" Inspired Custom WE 1911 Tactical (Airsoft).

I have finally to come to admit to myself that I'm done with this project for now. As you can see much has changed since I started this thread with my initial attempt into recreating Snake's final signature sidearm. I was trying to keep it as cheap as possible though its hard to avoid spending a lot when Japanese parts are needed. luckily, we sell most of the parts I needed. And yes technically it should have Springfield Armory trades but they proper slide is hard and expensive to come by.

I did one as well, but I think yours looks better...:)

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4 Props - Snakes Operator

For the visor (and all the other "hard" parts) I will need some help, but I would love to vacu-form it while the "eye" parts should be CNC-ed with red LEDs and motorized opening (I have NO IDEA on how to make that, I know only how it should work...:rolleyes)

For the jaw I was thinking at foam rubber or urethane glued directly on my skin;)

So I think I have to mold and cast my head for that...:cool

And here it is the Solid Eye System in his "Sculpey" form... Unfortunately it came out too big... At least for me...
The second pic is how it should be once finished...:)

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4 Props - Snakes Operator, UPDATED PICS 3/23!

Having recently started and finished MGS4 within the same sitting for the first time (I know, shame on me for not playing it sooner, being the hardcore MGS fan I am, was that game emotionally powerful, or what?), I'm definitely in the market for some replicas. Loving this thread a whole lot more than before, now. Fantastic work all-around.

Same sitting? Isn't the game like 20 hours? That's hardcore. MGS3 has a better story and much more emotional IMO.

Besides Naked Snake, I think the MGS franchise has some incredibly hard costumes to make.

Yep, same sitting, I didn't sleep for a night. Started playing MGS4 mid-day, and finished it the next day, without skipping cutscenes (it was totally worth it, by the way, and I'll be playing through it again soon). I still have to play through MGS3 properly, since I've never owned a copy, but I'm definitely looking forward to it (I'd like to play Subsistence over the original, I'm hoping I can find a copy).

Agreed on the difficult costumes. I've always wanted to make a Cyborg Ninja costume, but I've never attemped it due to the difficulty.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4 Props - Snakes Operator, UPDATED PICS 3/23!

I've recently gotten really addicted to the MGS series and would love to see more of the designs brought to life.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4 Props - Snakes Operator, UPDATED PICS 3/23!

Well, Operator is working on Snake's 1911 from MGS4, which was based on the Springfield Armory MC Operator.

The 1911 from MGS3 was a customized Colt, I believe. And the finish was actually supposed to be blued, and highly polished on the slide. However, the PS2 engine couldn't create the proper effect, so the went with what appears to be stainless in the game.

I know this because if you aquire the Custom 1911 (MGS3) in MGS4, it is blued with a high polish.
