Merchandise and props you can buy at Disney’s upcoming Galaxy’s Edge attraction.

I just bought the Sith tunics and belt. I can post pics. Also Savi’s allowing spare parts to customize your lightsaber between different classes too. I have a power and peace saber now lol. Love it.

Yeah I'd love to see pics and hear what you think about them! I'm guessing RL won't approve them, but sure would be nice...!

For a dang piece of plastic still for sale at $12? Someone seriously has mental problems if that sale was legit.

Really impressed with the Yoda lamp. Its super heavy and solid, and even the element inside is a machine aluminum flashlight with a lanyard hole. And the copyright info is painted around the bottom lip very lightly, totally removable. I wish the bulb was more yellow than blue, but it does appear to be an old school bulb, not LED.

I just received mine. I don't know how it compares to the much more expensive fanmade one out there, but it is fantastic. Surprisingly heavy, too. Of all the items available at Galaxy's Edge this is one of my most wanted ones and it doesn't disappoint at all.

So update! Darth Alias told me that Vader's Legacy saber was out of stock, so instead I opted for Mace Windu's saber. Expect a full review soon.

I just got home from a Comi con and saw the GE Emperor's robe. They are DAMMNN nice! I Was so impressed by them. Disney really hit this one out the park and scored a Big time home run. The clasp does need replaced.

So the droid depot parts colors are red, orange, blue, black , grey and... purple?? It’s purple not magenta right? On the decals you can add later, it looked like there was a pink option is this the case? Can they be used in either droid types?

I’m going next week! Hopefully a lot of stuff has been restocked..

From what I’ve seen it looks like some of the parts a very purple and some are a bit lighter purple, I don’t know if I’d say magenta but definitely lighter.

Yeah it seemed like some were a slightly different similar color? I'm curious because I have twin daughters and I'd just like to be prepared for managing their expectations haha. Also does anyone have any recommendations on this, is either droid type good? Or is one hard to use or not as much fun, etc...? Or should I just let them pick whichever.
I'm also curious how hard it would be to modify the droids, like for instance painting part of it pink. That would be pretty easy wouldn't it?

I suspect Galaxy’s Edge will see a fair amount of SDCC attendees this week, and possibly the beginning of next, as folks extend their California trip to include hitting Anaheim. Probably means stock levels are not going to see an improvement for the next 2 weeks because even if items finally return to stock, they are just going to be snatched right up by folks with a higher than average collectible consumer habit than the general Disney tourists (which have high levels to begin with)

Just read all 21 pages here with interest.

I work in the Park (not in GE) and we old-timers have watched the planning, construction, publicity, and opening of GE with a mix of dismay and fascination.

Most of us feel that the placement of GE was a mistake. Many feel that Star Wars deserved its own Park, a Third Gate for Disneyland Resort, connected to Disneyland Park and DCA by Monorail. We have the land to do it! And only that option would have allowed room for growth.

Many others felt that it would have made more sense to bulldoze everything from Star Tours back, including Tomorrowland, the oft-closed Carousel Of Progress building, Autopia, the oft-closed submarine pond, and the boat ride that's been closed for a half-century (it's like Autopia but with little boats- remember that?) That would have given around 30% more room than cramming GE into the very edge of the Disneyland property (hence the nickname "Property's Edge").

The biggest surprise has been the lack of crowds this summer. Guests have been staying away in droves!

All the years of work and millions of dollars Disneyland spent modifying the Park to accommodate the expected hordes was for naught. (They removed trees, removed planters, removed curbs, took out shops, reduced the size of planters, etc all to create wider pathways. It made the Park less intimate, less green, and uglier.)

In any case, back to the topic of merchandise, I will note as a Cast Member that we don't receive our CM discount on the Savi lightsabres.

We do receive our discount (35%) on the other merchandise, and some CMs are doing the same thing they've always done: purchase things in the Park and put them up on Ebay. That 35% is their profit margin.

I haven't seen the costumes on sale in GE discussed much here (except for the Emperor's cloak). I know next to nothing about Star Wars costumes, but I did look at, and try on, the heavy brown wool Jedi cloak and it seemed well-made and reasonably priced. I think it was around $120 and I get my discount (I asked).

What about the various Jedi costumes on sale? Are the fabrics and construction reasonably accurate? Or are they just "play dress-up" level costumes? I looked at various YouTube reviews of the costumes but they weren't by people with any knowledge of Star Wars costuming.

You know those places where they have costumes to put on for a vintage-style photo? The GE shop with the costumes has become a non-monetized version of that! Guests dress up in the Jedi cloaks, or sometimes the full Jedi costumes, pose for a snap, and take the stuff back off.

BTW I've not yet heard what the Cast Member's nickname for Galaxy's Edge is. It certainly won't be "GE". Thing is, at Disneyland every land and attraction has a Cast Member nickname, always one word and usually monosyllabic. We have "Tours" and "Jungle" and "Splash" and "Mansion". I'm guessing it will be "Edge".

Apropos of nothing, I love just walking around Edge and seeing all the little details in what filmmaking calls Set Decoration. Here are some fascinating WWII items (looks like a modified Stg 43/MP 44)

Thanks for sharing your POV on GE and providing some insider info. That was very interesting to read.

I actually think for the price the costumes look very good, tho I've only seen pictures and youtube reviews.

Have you heard how GE is doing? Ive heard that attendance is down ... would you be able to add insight on that?

Just that the Park's attendance overall has clearly been down this summer, when everyone expected the opposite! Where are the huddled masses we braced ourselves for?

But DCA was like that too! DCA was widely labelled a "flop" when it first opened. Let's face it: DCA was done on the cheap, and looked it. But Disneyland, to their credit, poured resources into DCA, expanded it, added more rides, and most importantly added Cars Land, which turned out to be the decisive tipping-point. Now DCA's attendance is respectable. No, it will never rival Disneyland Park in attendance, but in Florida the Magic Kingdom will always be the attendance champion, and everyone just accepts it as a given.

So I expect GE and Disneyland Park to recover the lost attendance and in time GE will be viewed as a success.

Worrisome to many is the fact that due to the expected crush of people in Disneyland Park caused by GE, they announced that Mickey's Halloween Party will be moved to DCA this year. Many feel that this will be disastrous to MHP and DLP attendance. Disneyland has been scrambling with adjustments to Cast Member and AP blockouts due to the unexpectedly low attendance, and it wouldn't surprise us if they reversed their MHP plan and retained MHP in Disneyland Park. I'm sure everyone can imagine how immensely popular MHP will be in Disneyland Park, with thousands of Guests in full Star Wars costume running around Galaxy's Edge! If they do have MHP in DLP they should raise the MHP attendance cap, which I feel is already too low.

About the GE merchandise, don't count on anything you see today being there tomorrow! Disneyland has a long track history of items being on the shelves for a brief time, then disappearing forever. It's why I'll probably buy whatever I want right away- I've lost too many chances to purchase things over the years. BTW discontinued items end up at Company D for cheap, but I don't expect GE things to show up there.
