MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

I like the all caps on 'laughing' --gives emphasis, and makes everyone involved in the current discussion feel small and ashamed. They aren't as big as those BIG CAPS. Couldn't have done that with lowercase. You are a very shrewd man, sir.

Except you completey ****ed up your second paragraph with your 'I sure you' comment which makes you sound like a brainless Appalachian mountain cityboy ****er from Deliverance. It's 'I assure' you, my poorly spoken friend.

I sure you, education is paramount. You could use a little more if you want to communicate with other human using written/typed language.

Good luck.

Maybe English isn't his first language? Way to get butt hurt over something silly.

I never mentioned English in the post. :popcorn

Moving along, I actually think they corrected most of the issues with the bottom hardware that were so ****ty the last time out. The battery box no longer looks like a VHS tape, screw holes gone, better magnets, no raised screw holes on brackets....

Am I missing something? LOVE the look on Scott's face in that pic.

I don't know who some of these guys are on the Matty Collector forums, but the the constant bashing and berating of Scott Neitlich needs to stop. Work on your grammar too. Sounding like a bunch of ranting 14 year olds won't get us anywhere.

I am just as upset as everyone else, but calling Scott a liar is really jumping the gun. What if design told Scott they could do lenticular in the beginning, but half way through they realized it was too expensive? When you say "liar" you are suggesting that he KNEW everything he was saying wasn't true. I really don't think this is the case. What if design said they were correcting the issues but they didn't (or knew they couldn't)? It sounds like Mattel management and design royally f*cked this one up and he is taking all the blame.

Take off your conspiracy goggles and put yourself in his shoes for a minute. What would you have done differently? We don't know the full story so I would hold off on the guilty accusations.

Well let's see...in the last month and a half I was t-boned in a car accident that did over 12k in damage to my car and injured my back. I was without that car for six weeks. The starter in my other vehicle went out which cost me a couple hundred dollars to fix. I had septic issues at my house that required me to dig in my yard to replace a pipe which also cost a pretty penny. I am also adjusting to life being a father for the first time and getting used to be awake at all hours of the night.

So yeah, this whole "let's mob Mattel" mentality just isn't worth me losing any sleep over. I am keeping my preorder and the hover board. As imperfect as it may be, I've had real issues to worry about.

Will be interesting to see what happens with mine. My card expires next month that I used for the pre-order.

I just realized yesterday that the card that I think I used for my two orders expired in July. I tried emailing them asking to find out if I had in fact used the card in question, but I received a response similar to the one Razor got.

Thank you for contacting the MattyCollector.com online store.

We have received your request to change the address for shipment of your
order. Unfortunately, no changes were able to be made can be made to an
existing order since orders are processed immediately upon submission.

I'll have to call on Monday. P-I-T-A:facepalm

This is probably the truest thing on here. In terms of actual real life perspective.

Not much to say about the bottom of the board. It is the same as it was on the SDCC works-like-model below (minus the red paint on magnets). Like Dave had mentioned, they had finished the tooling so I didn't expect much to be changed. Disappointed.

Evilrocketeer, I already challenged them on their quote legally they could not change the final date on release in their hoverboard forum without a reply by them. They know, they are burying their heads and hoping that it blows over and that there is no further fallout.

I think that's not going to be the case and I am disappointed to see them blow this opportunity.

At the end of the day, I am more disappointment in their attitude and lack of public relations than the poorly made hoverboard.

Having just finished my degree in management and business law, I look at how they handled this on both aspects and cringe. That is the real sad thing about all of this. I have reviewed so many case studies on situations like this, I shake my head now every time I see such a text book screw up.

The hoverboard in the end is just a toy. The outcome and actions from a project like this, that is a bit more grating for me to see unfold. Made worse as one of the papers I had to write was on Mattel's corporate culture and ethos; which is in total opposition of how Matty executed this disaster.

Let me know how you get on please. I don't really want to make an overseas call.

Whether you agree or disagree with the poster's opinion, the above response was a personal attack which to me makes it more of a FAIL.

Unless someone thinks Mattel succeeded on getting this board as accurate as possible, I think we are all on the same team here. Some collectors are just more passionate than others.

There have been a number of posts in this thread that really make you wonder about the age of some of the posters. It also appears that some people have not read all of the rules of the RPF. I would suggest that some newer members do so before posting again.

RESPONSE TO THIS:

:lol:lol:lol...Matty is LAUGHING right now of all of you paranioc-lawyers-wannabe....

As simple as: You don't like it...leave it. Get an "fan-made-accurate" and that's the end of all your problems.

Nobody has been charged for this item yet, and i sure you that the only cancellations you will see are from the same 5 or 6 unhappy funny-lawyers up here...

Good luck with your lawsuit pals¡¡:popcorn:lol:lol:lol

Since when is Trolling ok and Troll smashing not? Was it too hard to see what the first quote here was responding to? It only takes one mouse click above the first quote.

Let's just forget it and move on. I have read the forum rules, and next time I see a poster being a obnoxious dick to everyone, I'll look the other way like everyone else.

:cool WINNING

Yeah, yeah....we all see your response. However Darth Charles was making a broad statement about how crazy it sounds to lawyer up over a hoverboard. Was he blunt? Maybe but I'm sure more than a few of us were thinking the same thing.

You for some reason took that as a personal attack and end up calling him a brainless mountain boy? And that's winning to you?

Yes, it is winning.

I get what he is saying, I just think we was being overly belligerent about it--making a post that was made to **** people off. I think it was a personal attack to the people who were getting that upset. It really didn't have much to do with me, other than I thought he was being a dick and decided to step in and comment on behalf of the people who were having the lawsuit discussion. I'm sorry if I upset some of you with that.

Yeah, I think it's crazy to actually sue over this. To me, a BBB claim is fine if you absolutely want your order refunded immediately, because who wants to dick around with refusing delivery and dealing with Matty CS/DR handling the fallout.

Personally, I think the only unfortunate thing is the actual promise of lenticular material versus the reality of costs of that material. I think Scooter had no idea what he was talking about and got himself in trouble by overpromising fans to sell the board. I know we are too far in now for anything REAL to be done about this, but if it were me--I'd offer an apology and give those who are unhappy a chance to cancel their preorders. That's fair and has an amount of class. As lame as it sounds, a simple apology from Scott Neitlich would do me just fine, but I won't hold my breath. To me, the hoverboard itself is about where the trap was before I modified it. Paint and added parts will help things.

I have nothing but respect your you, Dave. I appreciate all of the inside information you've provided on this thing and have looked forward to seeing your posts. I think the argument was a stupid moment for everyone on those pages. We seem to have settled since.
