Mass Effect 3 Ending, opinions and feelings?

It's bad when your company gets bad press in Forbes even if it's a section older investors probably wouldn't read but i bet the guys handling accounts for folks read it. I know this entire thing has shaken the faith some folks had in professional game reviewers and websites. Why anyone listens to them i don't know as it's hardly impartial when the companies can threaten to put you out of business by not sending games to review and cancel ad revenue.

Ah, been meaning to catch up with the Forbes coverage. Ta for that.

Also, HOLY COW THAT'S SOME GIANT BALLS THEY HAVE.

That's why I predicted the DLC content above. I wouldn't put it past whoever came up with this lame *ss ending to punish fans because we didn't fawn over it. I'm predicting the additional content will make it worse, like the Normandy crew opening the door then all getting killed.

The two writers who took over the ending and didn't have the other writers chip in evenif they wanted to are MIA.

Wow they are cracking down on threads in BSN.

Missed a week of this due to moving and no internet, so struggling to get caught up with all the drama over there. Sadly the Patrick worship seems to have died down a little.

That's because they're getting waves of rage over the glitch that's got the game unplayable for folks and other issues and the crackdown will make it worse. There is a Forbes article bouncing around announcing EA laying off at least 500 people though EA is denying its a layoff.

Edit: Wow there's a big backlash growing over the threads being locked but the pro BW trolling threads not being. Honestly the best PR move they could do is just shut down the forum at this point as they keep making themselves look bad.

There's a glitch making it unplayable? You mean the ending? :p

I hadn't seen that. Saw the layoffs, and stuff about a guy getting banned from single-player and having to fix that snafu.

Well short of anyone outside of BSN caring enough to say anything they won't really suffer much PR damage for running their forum how they see fit I expect.

lol. No the new patch they put out last week renders the game unplayable for some folks unless you unplug your net. Yeah nobody outside the BSN cares about the lockdowns but you know how gamers talk. Right now the word of mouth about the end is hurting them still as people warn their friends.

That and how bad SW:TOR is doing. Wish I could find the post that calculated how much it's costing them to try and stop them hemorrhaging players with the free month.

EDIT: Found it. The guy estimated that the free month of SW:TOR, factoring lost revenue from that free month, the licensing fees to Lucas, operating costs for that month could be costing EA as much at $43 million. That's likely high since he's figuring every subscriber gets a free month, but if it's any significant portion of that number it shows just how bad things are looking for the product Bioware staked so many resources on.

Add onto that the new MP DLC for ME3 that was not supposed to be free, and the Extended Cut that is going to be free and won't be cheap unless they just slap in cut content and there's a lot of money Bioware/EA are losing. I wouldn't be surprised to see some restructuring down the line.

Not to mention all the people canceling their SW:TOR memberships over ME 3 and word of mouth.

This is one that makes me shake my head. I play SW:TOR and all in all I like the game. The new 1.2 update is cool and the current Rakghoul event (even though its the same idea WoW did with Lich King) is very fun. Why would I suddenly cancel my membership here because they fubar'd another game? I played ME1 and ME2 but was holding off on ME3 because it was $60 at the time. After reading all the negative press and see all the problems I passed on it as a whole.

Do I think Bioware messed up ME3 bigtime? From what I have read, you bethca. Do I think they are the great satan and all their products are now unclean? Hell no.

Well I'm on Mac so I couldn't play SW:TOR anyway, but I'm certainly not inclined to bootcamp to try it now.

And lost merchandizing revenue. As much as I liked the Mass Effect games aside from 3's ending I was going to buy the heck out of their merchandize and now I'm not until the current issues are resolved in a way that I'm satisfied with.

Yeah, because Satan never tempts others to follow his cause with lies.

- "It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got an ending A, B, or C."
- "This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player's actions in the first two chapters."

And the ones who made these promises are still in charge..... making the same promises.

- “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

I hope someone working there will see the potential for bad PR if they keep this up. Putting up with the "entitled" fans politely won't garner nearly as much attention as this banning spree they're on.

Sadly EA is in charge of the PR now that they own Bioware and we know they really don't care since folks are still buying their stuff. I have a feeling that some point EA will be hurting for cash like Square though.

Oh I wouldn't be at all surprised to see EA hurting more down the line, be it stocks continuing to fall or more layoffs. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Bioware gutted over ME3 and SW:TOR.

I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that.

Yeah i'd hate to see them gutted though as i loved Neverwinter nights. Sadly most huge publishers are getting to be like EA, it's like they lost their souls when they got big. I remember EA's genesis games that were really good.

Who's ready for the DLC on tuesday that supposedly adds some stuff to the end that fleshes it out a bit. I'm gonna restart and do everything possible (bugs prevented me the first time). Get everything 100% done and then see if that changes a bit.

But more than likely however I will be disappointed all over again.
