Mass Effect 3 Ending, opinions and feelings?

Actually, BioWare being able to break away from EA would be a good thing. I'd love for that to happen. It won't, though. And they won't be dissolved, either. I'd anything, their brand is bigger than ever now. It doesn't matter that it's due to this controversy.

BTW, as much as some of you would probably like to think that ME3 is the reason that EA is the "Most Hated Company", it's not. They've been despised in the industry for years for their destructive and cutthroat practices. Incidentally, it's one of the reasons many of us were sad when they bought BioWare.

Never said the reason they made the #1 on the most hated company list was because of Mass Effect 3. I just loved how they put in a ME3 reference at the end. And if they choose not to accept the award or any colors, than they had more choices than Shepard did which in my book makes them the worst company.

I agree ME3 seems to have been a nudge they needed but people have been after them for years over their practices. I remember the 90s when EA actually meant fairly good quality but that's also when they went out of control and became the Walmart of games.

Extended cut ending, available this summer, for FREE:

BioWare Announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut

I love how of all the things they say in the article, this is the one they think stands out...

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team”

You mean the Casey Hudson who, with Mac Walters, locked out all the other writers who worked on the game so they wouldn't challenge their horrendously flawed ideas on how the game should end?

I still don't believe that more explanations will fix anything. There is no reason why Joker would retreat when the battle over Earth is still going on and Shepard is still confirmed alive on the Citadel. This is the battle for the freaking galaxy. Retreating won't make it easier to win.

Eh, really, what else can they do? We're never going to get a wholesale rewrite. We're going to get a hack patch-up job; an attempt to placate that still works within the framework of the existing ending idiocy. To do otherwise would be a) too expensive and b) too much corporate loss of face.

And why end date it in 2014? I'll be lucky to have finished my ME2 Para playthrough by then. :lol

I won't believe anything Bioware says until after this weekend at PAX.

Why should we believe anything they say even after PAX? They're basically making the same promises that were made for ME3 from the start. For example,

"more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player."

How is that different from this quote he made before the game was released?

"This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player's actions in the first two chapters."

i was feeling generous and hopeful. Short of doing a Broken Steel style expansion i don't see anything they do working. I noticed on the bioware forum more an more people are giving up and just being cynical so i think bioware's spinning their tires at this point. In all honesty i see EA doing layoffs from the BW group soon.

If they answer the questions I had the first time I hit the ending, I'll be satisfied. Sure, it's not the amazing ending we were promised that involves every choice we made, but again - I thought the ending was "OKAY" and just scraped by, but it could have been so much better. I had a lot of questions after the ending - that's what bugged me. If these cutscenes answer those questions, then the story will be complete for me.

Interesting. Considering how many holes and inconsistencies there are, I shall remain skeptical that they'll be able to maintain their "artistic vision" while giving the fans something they'll be happy with.

This just sounds right now like they're using a thick coat of wax to polish this turd.

I think polishing a turd is the most used description on the bioware forum for this entire situation. :lol And as the mythbusters showed us you can polish it but it still stinks.

Whole situation reminded me of that episode.

I wonder if the DLC will clarify which of our choices mattered beyond "pick a color."

Yes. That's the biggest gap IMO that they will have to either totally rewrite, or less plausible explain. Even though you hate Joker, I think we can agree that he wouldn't leave people on the ground in danger. I mean at least throw in a scene where Hackett says something like "Normandy, we have Reapers trying to open an escape route through the fleet, we need you to pursue." That could make sense. What they did, is nonsense.
