Mass Effect 2 - M8 Assault Rifle: FINISHED! See p.5

Just blown away. I always want to post because your work is just amazing but I can never think of anything other to say them the highest praise that pops into my mind, sooooo.... HOLY CRAP YOU ARE AWESOME!11!!11!!11!!!!!!!!one111!!!!

You know if I hadn't been following this thread I'd swear that was a screenshot. Excellent!

Having just played the game yesterday, it's a bit different. The piece at the rear between the grip and the stock is the wrong color, its silver here but ingame and in the preview image it's black. The stock also has some kind of padding around it thats curved for the shoulder.

Not a terribly big deal but I tend to be a stingy perfectionist who is never happy with anything. :(

As for the color difference, the M8 shown in the box art/promo art and the one in-game are vastly different from one another. My rifle incorporates cues from both, hence the irregularities.

You can see that rear piece is silver in this shot.

(y)thumbsup
That Sir...is amazing! I have not played ME2 but seeing this gun makes me want to as it looks THAT good!

Also thanks for posting it up from start to finish, its great to see how its done (and rob some ideas:p) Cant wait to see what else you work on

God. That is just so mad sexy.

The only thing that'd be better than a cast copy of the original would be a multi-part kit so that we could take a whack at installing our own electronics. The way you have it lit is just so otherworldly and rad!

Ah, I see. Probably not how I would have done it since, unless i'm wrong the box art was based on early concept images made before the game had come out.

I just guess that if I was going to do a replica i'd want it to be based on what was actaully seen in the game, in the cutscenes etc. as opposed to the box art. It's minor stuff though and still looks fantastic, and really, it's something you COULD change at anytime if you actaully wanted to, since it's just a different color so I guess it's not a big deal.

Yeah, everyone will have different ideas of what's perfect, but thankfully this was a build for myself, so all I had to do was listen to whatever whim struck me at the time - sort of like those little vents underneath the lower barrel. If it were a client commission, all of this would be checked first.

You're really gonna hate it when I make another one of these and paint it bright red like the Avenger in ME1!

Go into the game, walk into the weapons room and look on the far back table near the window to the reactor room. There are 2 versions of the M8 laying on the table. One with the black, which looks slightly smaller and one with the silver. (at least in the 360 version, I didn't check on my PC version)

First thing I noticed once my power came back on and I could actually look at a reference again was that I had installed the bottom front barrel grip on my guns backwards. oops!

Whenever I make something that isn't 100% accurate i claim its a custom because if i was these guys i'd want my stuff to stand out a bit so nobody grabs it by accident.
