I'm starting a project to attempt to make myself a replica of the gas powered belt sander used by Victor Crowley in Hatchet (2006). Using the listing for the prop at https://propstoreauction.com/lot-details/index/catalog/361/lot/106882, I've been able to get the main sander, the fuel tank, the air filter and the muffler.
However, I'm struggling to ID the piece behind some of the more obvious parts. I tried to highlight it the best I could in the images below based on what else is on the sander itself. The air filter and muffler look to be off a Homelite 20677 trimmer, but I believe they might have been used on other tools as well. I found a gearbox plate off a Homelite hedge trimmer that had a similar mounting hole to the one that sticks up on this, but it's not the right shape. Obviously the mystery parts could be off an entirely different engine, but I would assume a prop maker building this would likely be cannibalizing one engine and slapping its parts onto the sander.
Any help in identifying this piece would be greatly appreciated!
