Mandalorian Season 3

I don't think Bo so much joined as she was sort of conscripted, and she's like oh, okayyyyy, we'll see how this goes I guess.
Since Reeves and Woves bailed on her without so much as a howdy-do, I think she might be drawn to the CotW's sense of true community and loyalty, even if they are super-weird.

It’s effectively like me hanging out with two reliable friends, and then they ditch me completely. Suddenly, the Catholic Church bombs my home, and I’m left with the weird home school kid who brings me back to his Mormon family and they say I can just join them.

Meanwhile, my ophthalmologist isn’t charged with war crimes, and swears he will just be a Walmart cashier for the rest of his life. He joins up with the door greeter, and they ride the train to the distribution center. Unfortunately for him, she was a Target assistant manager all along.

Anyway... obviously Peshing being mind-flayed by Elia Kane is because he knew too much about something.
Either it was something that Gideon had been up to (and will return to later in the season), and/or it was Elia Kane's close ties with Gideon. If Kane stays in the Amnesty Program on Coruscant, she is there for a purpose for sure.

And it was probably Gideon who had ordered Bo-Katan's castle to be bombed.
I think it would have been more effectful for the audience if we had heard about Gideon's escape before the attack, not after. But on the other hand, Din and Bo-Katan hadn't.

Does anyone know if Pedro is actually under the helmet anymore or is he just a glorified voice actor? I know from previous seasons that they usually had 2 or 3 different people playing the part depending on the action required so I'm wondering if he ever suits up anymore.

Brendan Wayne is in the suit most of the time, and Lateef Crowder suits up for stunts/fight scenes.

He never really was in the suit from the beginning. He’s been in a few episodes and key scenes, but a majority of the time it’s Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder. I’m very happy to finally see them recognized in the main credits, since they’re just as pivotal to bringing Din to life as Pedro is.

I think those answers are forthcoming. I highly doubt he is dead.

And I am only half-kidding when I say I think kalkamel is onto something with Bor Gullet (or another Bor) making an appearance. Can legit totally see a member of that species showing up to salvage or restore Pershing’s mind.

No he's not dead, but i think the point was that hes basically a vegetable now, they wiped his mind. So i dont think we'll be getting any info from him.

Yes, but I don't think that is where his story ends. They’re going to find some way to return his mind to him, if only so he can spill on whatever cloning hoodoo he was doing for Gideon.

Hey, thanks for the cool shout-out equating my personal religious beliefs to a cult for a joke. Very nice, keep it classy.

So what I got from what we were presented, & help me if I'm wrong...

There are rumors that Gideon escaped during a transfer, but it's trying to be kept quiet or outright dismissed.

There's enough information retained about the work Pershing was doing, but they didn't know the exact process, so by having him select the EXACT equipment he needed, they're confident they can figure it out.

Based on the 'Previously On', the communications officer was planted by Gideon into the system, expressly to get to Pershing after his capture & turning over to the New Republic.

So, unless I'm missing something, Gideon will be revealed to be the season's big bad, only now working directly with the early, organized First Order, instead of random Imperial remnants.

Funny. That is all. Heh

I think that is a remarkably solid bet. They might even toss in some hints about early attempts to clone Palpatine and Snoke.

I think that's exactly what he was referring to in his presentation at the Opera House. His research was to clone from single DNA strands, but he was able to actually combine different strands into one clone.

The experiments he was reporting on back in previous seasons weren't surviving, as they weren't accepting the midichlorian enabled strands. My belief is, it was made to work, but not on a human & not without significant damage. That's where Snoke came in-a species that could be made to be Force sensitive, but suffered the physical mutations we saw in Snoke & the tanked clones on Exegol & possibly on Gideon's ship in season 2.

I'm really torn on how I feel about it because, personally, I understand & like Palpatine's plan to live forever. It seems like something he would prepare for. I just HATE that the story was wrapped in the bad film that TROS turned out to be.

If they build enough backstory to make TRoS work in the way that the Clone Wars make the prequels work, I will be shocked AF.

I truly think they could make ASPECTS of the LORE absolutely work, but I don't believe they could ever make it work simply as a coherent film.

In my job I read & hear a lot of presentations on subjects that seem to be absolute drivel, but most of the time, I can find a nugget that's applicable. In my life I've adopted the motto- "Enjoy the meat & Throw out the bones".

That's how I've had to enjoy a bit of 'current' content.

While I found the cutting away from the heroes to follow a previously minor character a little jarring, I did enjoy most of that stuff. I liked seeing Coruscant again. It certainly felt like Disney mandated "more like Andor" since it got so much critical & fan praise, and we know they do that. But it could just as well have been Favreau saying that to himself and writing it in. Andor was a damn good show.

At first I was ready to fast forward when I started hearing things like "Amnesty Housing" and "Travel Biscuits". Just didn't feel like this show. But I found myself not doing that, and gave it a shot.

The train sequence was OK, the looting of the star destroyer was too short. It was obvious what was happening.

I kept waiting for Mando and Bo to show up on Coruscant looking for Pershing. I thought they might show up and pull him off Corsucant as some kind of cliffhanger.

I hope this ties into Mando's story at some point, but I can't imagine how.

I didn’t hate the Palpatine/cloning concept in TROS. It was very “Dark Empire” at its roots.

What I hated - haaaaated - was the blatantly, almost defiantly, half-ass way it was crammed into the narrative at the very end. As if we were supposed to believe that “cloned Palpatine” was the plan all along.

The trilogy would have been sooooo much better had they picked that as the story arc from the get-go, and just stuck with it.

I didn't exactly hate this episode, but the stuff with the doc should have been reduced by about half. I liked seeing Coruscant and the Mcquarrie style buildings though. I was hoping they were going to go to the under city, which was always cool in the books. I think they screwed up by having the exposed mountain because it's supposed to be in Monument Plaza (like in the Mcquarrie concept art - see pic below) so I think they just moved it to fit this scene, which is now canon, and not as cool. I did like the references to the Coruscant botanical gardens and Galactic Museum, which feature in the old EU.

I actually liked the theory that TROS Palpatine was the "original, alpha" Palpatine that was perhaps more an ancient creature than man, and the Palpatine(s?) we saw in the PT and OT was a clone puppet controlled by the "alpha Palpatine" from Exegol. Of course that turned out to not be the case...
