I will just say if there were giant monster things underwater that come up near the shore, I sure as hell would not go to the beach! I was just wondering why those Mandos didn't fire a mass volley of their pack missiles at that thing? I kind of laughed at one of them firing a flame thrower at it because something that big probably has hide that was thick enough to shrug that off!
I think my favorite part was Grogu Force spinning himself in that chair.

It was fine and I didn't really think it was a filler episode- pertinent stuff happened- but I did think it was a bit underwhelming for a season premiere. I was absolutely pumped after the season 2 premiere but didn't quite feel that way this time. It really does feel like Eps. 1 and 2 of season 3 were plopped in TBOBF and the premiere was in fact episode 3.
I still think bringing Grogu back so soon and in someone else's show was a huge misstep. Not to mention they don't even bother to explain it at all even in the "Previously on..." segment. Favreau claims Grogu was with Luke for two years which if true is a big fail because that didn't translate on screen at all.
The Mando child helmets did look really plastic although in a way I kinda like that production just repurposed a toy. lol
As much as I liked IG-11, bringing him back is super cheesy to me. Just another example of LFL's inability to leave dead characters dead! Why does this keep happening? It's also weird that IG-11 literally had a bomb in his chest and yet somehow that is the most intact part of him? I will say I liked the silly Anzellan scene lol I kinda get why Mando would be insistent on using an IG unit because my impression is they aren't common and are some of the best. I thought it was kinda odd when Mando was showing Grogu the IG-11 memorial for the first time when they totally ignored it the last time they were there.
The space pirates giving off literal Pirates of the Caribbean vibes was too on the nose for me. The Swamp Thing/Davy Jones captain...nahhhhh... For a second I thought his ship was an Eclipse star destroyer, as goofy as that would've been. The pirate fighters looked a bit like R-41 Starchasers from the old X-wing games. If that's what they were, that's neat.
I was also puzzled why Mando was visiting with Bo-Katan and going to Mandalore because I thought he literally had just established he wanted to fix IG-11 first?
The hyperspace creatures were a nice potential nod to Thrawn. I still wouldn't be surprised if Thrawn had been the one that "saves" Grogu. I think that could potentially be revealed this season and maybe even our first glimpse of liveaction Thrawn?
All in all, I thought it was fine episode, fun in some places, but it didn't blow me away and I felt it was the weakest of the 3 Mando premieres we have now.

Yeah that pirate leader was just dumb. The pirate ship looked VERY familiar. I'm pretty sure there's either an EU ship similar to that or some concept art from the Prequels that looked like it. I can't recall though. I also thought those fighters were R41 Starchasers. I know they are canon because they were apparently in that SW Resistance cartoon.

When they arrive on Kalevala it looked like the pram drops out of the bottom of the ship just below where the dome is, so I assumed the pram is actually what Grogu is sitting on when he's in the ship. The logistics of the tunnel to the cockpit is less clear, but I love the idea of it either way. Grogu has his little "room" when he wants some privacy, but can still get cuddles with dad when he wants. Clever design for such a tiny ship, honestly.
That Glitterbomb Space Pirate reminded me of another character in the Cough! franchise..
I'm ill.. Maybe I hallucinated the whole first Ep.
Looking forward to the mid season BOBF2 Ep.. That's how it works right?
I am sure it will be fine, we sometimes expect too much too quick and agree the spinning Force chair was fun except every show I've seen recently ran it when interviewing Pedro over here in the UK.

Since the astromechs get sucked up from the bottom, this makes a whole lot of sense re: the pram. As for the tunnel, I figured either 1.) it was part of the modifications done on Tat (along with the dome); or 2.) there's always been a "droid access panel" as part of the ship design.

The problem with this is the spot where a droid would go up is now where the giant add on engine is
The “never remove your helmet” thing is still just absurdly silly.
The ceremony to place the toy helmet on the kid’s head was pretty laughable…not quite as funny as the “Boba Fett gaffi stick dance”, but pretty close.
