Mad Max: Fury Road Costume Thread

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Yeah, I would imagine in that world you'd grab up all you could... pray that you find a weapon that could use em ha

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

So based on what we've seen so far and from the mags identified by a couple members on here I just want to confirm all the mags the battle jacket consist of.

Right side:
1 Beretta mag on top shoulder ( Looks like a 20rd based on the length)
2 AK 47 mags on the chest
1 Beretta mag inside tan Condor pouch (30 round)
1 Uzi-style mag inside tan Condor pouch
1 or possibly 2 HK G3 Mags inside the custom pouch next to the tan Condor pouch.

Reason I say possibly 2 HK G3 mags is based on this picture

You can see another one behind it there. Also a while back Bonanza had mentioned those 2 other mags on the bottom is one 30 rd Beretta mag and one Uzi style mag based on the one mag having the rounds stacked side by side. You can see the comparison here:
#100

Based on the picture above though both of those mags have the rounds stacked side by side, so could it be they're both Uzi style mags instead of just one? Let me know what you guys think. I own a Glock and have an AR15 that I'm building but I don't consider myself a gun expert by any means which is why I'm asking any gun gods here to confirm.

Ok, left side.

Hard to tell but is this also a Beretta mag? It looks like it's missing that distinctive diamond shape on the side of it. Could just be the angle though.

Then the 4 MP5 mags shown here

Also since the leg platform appears to have another Beretta mag it would make sense the pistol he's carrying is a Beretta. I know in the trailer you see Max shooting a Glock but maybe it's someone else gun he picked up. The butt plate shown here doesn't look it's from a Glock.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Also I've been trying to find some MP5 magazines that match up to the mags arlo posted and I can't seem to find any. The feed lips look shorter on all of them real or knockoff mags. The body of the mag flows all the way up to the feed lips where as in the picture arlo posted there's more space on the feed lips from the rest of the body of the mag. The MP5 mags I'm finding online also have that tear drop shape on the top right under the feed lip where as the ones on the vest don't.
Here's a picture to compare.

Thoughts about these mags?

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Some of the 9mm and loose rounds are cast lead bullets as used in many hand loaded/reloaded ammo. The loose rounds on the side appear to be .38 special or the longer .357 Magnum calibres.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

wow, great work in putting that together comicguy! the only thing I'm not really sure about now is the left side. in the still where he's shooting the rifle it looks like there is only the one black condor pouch. it also looks like the mags are being carried upside down or butt plate up and appear to be a different type of mag.

I'm also still curious about the grenade round and how that is stitched in. Arlo mentioned using existing elastic on the side of the jacket but mine does not have any elastic on the side, just the elastic loops on both shoulder straps. could that be what he's talking about?

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Thanks. I had the same thoughts about the screenshot you mentioned which is why I've asked if alro could confirm if those mags and pouches are on the final jacket.

It looks as if the pouch is just empty with no mags. You can make out the strips on the pouch and what looks like the end of a bullet in one. Maybe one pouch fell off during a scene or maybe some of the battle jackets vary from one another? I think arlo mentioned 6 were made for the film. It could also just be that they went with only one pouch on the final design.

Also about the grenade round. I think arlo meant it's held in place by the existing straps. You can see they have the same details here.

They could be the elastic one though as they look very similar. I have two battle jackets and only one of them came with an elastic on the shoulder and just on one side. I would assume it's cut to size and stitched on either way.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Hope I'm not straying too far here by wanting to note some of the baddie weaponry and costumes. Since the official teaser trailer gave us some better looks at some of the enemies, I wanted to pick at some people's brains with what I saw.

Glad to see they're sticking with the mounted "weaponry" like this fire extinguisher/flamethrower/turret. One thing to note (I didn't grab it quick enough as she turned...) is that it seems that Charlize Theron is using some variant of a Kalashnikov, also a more modern gun as well. Seems like there's not as many crossbows, and boomerangs as the first, perhaps they're trying to really push the Australian theme out?

Mad Max 2.PNG

Two more costumes I can't wait to see replications of in the future are both the Humongous-looking character with the lawnmower sized, drum mag rifle, and the man behind the mask.

Mad Max 3.PNG

If you notice, the skull-masked individual seems to have some sort of circuitry boards on the viewer's right chestplate. Perhaps a trophy, or some sort of Darth Vader-esque device keeping the character alive? I really dig all these Raider/Baddie costumes though, they're bringing what looks like a mixture of the original football-pad wearing Raiders, some sort of "Steering Wheel Cultists", and of course the Masked Man who seems to leading the entire horde.

Possible Humongous.PNG

If anybody has started working on the Mask from the trailer let me know, I'd like to see how it comes out or possibly begin working of one of my own.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I saw a post somewhere of a member working on the Immortan Joe mask. Looked really awesome. I too can't wait to see all these other characters done. I love the look of all the put together costumes and weapons. The great thing about that is most of the items and components are found items. We just have to ID them.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

You mean the top cover lid needs weathering that holds the wire gauze? If so yes, you could use the wire gauze it came with to rough it up a bit or just use sand paper. I'll probably end up doing all the weathering on the items and jacket last when I collect everything. I think we pretty much identified all items the jacket carries. Just need a few confirmations on those mags on the final design of the jacket. Other than that thanks to arlo and all of us who has been posting helping ID everything, I think we can say we know what everything is now.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Great work Fabian respect man!!! Also found and ID the legbrace??

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Also, I've made improvements on my Tom Hardy style paracord bracelet.

New one on the left, old one on the right.

As you can see the tail is much shorter and overall more accurate compared to all the photos we've seen.

If anyone is interested you can get them in the classifieds from me here with details on the improvements on the second page http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=233109

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I've been having a look at the pistol mag with the tubing again. I know it's been said it's a Condor Mag pouch but when analyzing the details it matches up more to the 5.11 tactical single mag pouch as mentioned by augofett a while back.

Have a look
Mag%20pouch_zpstjbgx85n.png

Take note at the width of the elastics band on both. The Condor seem a bit too wide while the 5.11 looks like an exact match. Also take note of the side. You can see the outline of the molle attachment has spacing between them on the Condor while the the 5.11 matches the Fury Road.

Also with the tubing. It was said they used IV tubing and fish tank tubing but looking at the one in the same picture, this particular vest the tubing has distinctive connectors at the ends. The only tubing I see those connectors on are from medical oxygen tubing. Bonanza also mentioned this a while back.

Here's a comparison.

Oxygen%20tubing_zpsxb1dkqwq.png

Some promo photos you don't even see a connector and some photos the tubing looks thinner than the photo above which I suspect are the vests that used the IV or fish tank tubing? They could have also just put the same connectors on the other tubing but I've only have seen these connectors on the oxygen ones while doing a search online.
