If it helps, it was really difficult to force myself to put those vinyl arrows on the control box. There sat this bad-ass functional aluminum and brass prop (Elstree Reveal) and then there were those vinyl arrows just taunting me.
But, the goal was to replicate the Elstree 'exactly' as it was. I really wanted those arrows to be something more but understood why they weren't. There was just no room left in the control box. So, I stuck to the plan to keep everything identical; no liberties were taken.
I believe the Elstree arrows were just cut corners of colored electrical tape. It's not like anyone was laser cutting when that thing was made. I experimented with the tape idea and noticed I was getting the same elongated arrows present on the prop while trying to keep the tip sharp. Once comfortable with the cut, I scanned them and had them cut in vinyl. Again, intentionally replicating the elongated look.
Again, for what it's worth. Not sure if that's what you're referring to. The placement of the arrows and screws are also rather tight compared to other ROTJ sabers. It does break canon a bit. The Elstree is funky!
