Let's not get out over our skis here.
Considering there's a couple other people out there taking victory laps (facebook, etc) claiming to have made this thing, I'm just gonna say;
"Meh, I have no clue...not enough info, probably not mine."
I've gone through all the pics. I see some hallmarks that were on mine but that doesn't make them
exclusive to me or anything. I do believe someone was intentionally heading down an Elstree-esque build though when that piece was made. Make of that what you will.
I guess we'll find out if they ever pop the thing open or we get better pics! I reached out to some friends close to production and asked for a little recon. I'll share if they hit me back with anything solid.
One side note in hopes of curtailing these PMs/emails:
With regard to allowing someone to copy my work. It's ridiculously premature for this to even be a thing but Teecrooz nailed it. I'll pile on a little since my name's been invoked so liberally.
Why would any reputable builder give their blessing to a complete stranger to make anything in association with them? To do so suggests a partnership, a meeting of the minds, a passing of the torch, etc. It would be a terribly reckless and irresponsible move. Someone is just randomly gifted with another guys efforts (and 25 year reputation) then proceeds to sell an item by saying, "I have Rylo's blessing, it's cool...come buy my stuff."
What happens if that person flakes or produces crappy product? Your name is attached to some dumpster fire project and someone you don't even know, forever?! That would be an absurd position for an established prop maker to put themselves in, right?
Let's ignore the fact that it took 1.5 years and about 10K to engineer the beast. The verbal gymnastics that some will stoop to in an effort to justify reverse engineering another guys work is incredible!
The solution is simple. Put in the work! You don't need my blessing if you do your own thing. The same reference is out there right now that I used. It's not a secret. I don't have any weird sense of entitlement here or care who makes a reveal saber; just do your own work. I'd be the first to applaud your efforts.
