I'm always amazed at this forum and how quickly some of these props are identified, analyzed compared etc. In this case it looks like we might have a match in less than 48 hours after the show aired based on a few low def screencaps. RPFers you never cease to impress!

Not being familiar with the Rylo run— was it a static/reveal only? No FX version? When was it last offered?

Just curious because if is an older run and not available when production was gearing up I wonder how/it was chosen.

And if it doesn’t come in an FX version, does that mean they made their own stunts based on its measurements? As I said up top, with technology being where it is at, the ST Graflexes aside, we’re at a point where scratch built production sabers are going to end up looking nearly identical when it comes to stunt FX vs belt hangers.

Are we going to enter the paradoxical space of Lucasfilm/prop houses “recasting” fan made props... which are based on Lucasfilm owned IP!? My head is feeling explode-y.

I'm sure you all know this but in case some of you don't. There is a behind the scenes special that is supposed to drop on Christmas day on Disney plus about the making of Mandalorian Season 2. So, let's be on the lookout for even more sightings of this hilt(fingers crossed) even though we already got stunning photos. Apologies if someone already mentioned this up in the feed.

I'm sure we will some some Luke BTS stuff when it airs... they know that's something a LOT of fans will want.
To me, this is the greatest event to happen to Star Wars since ROTJ...i am so pumped right now. I keep watching reaction videos and it just doesn't grow old. I'm glad i'm not the only one who shed tears of joy. I can't wait to see Mark Hamill talk about this...and i'm super happy for him. It seems like we keep losing the original actors fast. I just personally wanted Luke to get his due as the Luke i always pictured him to be. These are truly happy days for fans and i really hope its just as joyful for Mark as the actor who played the on screen hero of our youth. Can we thank Filoni and Favreau enough? ok, i know that should have probably been posted in a different forum...lol. Back to that SABER!!!

Here's an example of a member who weathered theirs, and the coloring matches the Mando scenes better: Weathered Rylo Luke ROTJ
Hey, that's mine :D

I'd say that I would have doubts that it's actually one of Rylo's reveals - the sections that rotate and open up do so really easily, and that would have presented problems during shooting. Granted, they could have taken steps to prevent that (i.e. gluing them shut), but didn't Rylo also do a completely static version a few years earlier than the reveal version?

Rylo's static version has completely different measurements from his reveal. It's copper instead of brass, and the detailing is very different.

If it was a Rylo, they probably also would have had to build some other fx and backup versions since the original Rylo's are quite hard to source and the few needed for a production shoot couldn't be easily gathered easily.

So to sum it up, Rylo Reveals were 1) fan-made, 2) produced in limited numbers, 3) not produced recently, 4) produced in such a way that the reveal feature doesn't make it the most logical on-set prop for a belt hanger.

It's like the prop master is just toying with us.

Looking good Dan!

The 48th Ronin Without going into the exact angles and section lengths of the Rylo Reveal, are you able to tell us it's approximate scale to the larger, more accurate hero measurements established in the past couples years? 90%, 93%, or...?

I have a Nicksdad with custom brass neck that may be the same slightly smaller scale that I may end up converting to a Mandolukian/Rylukian. Thanks!
