Interest Luke v2 Lightsaber. Unibody design

Hey guys. I wanted to start this thread and see if there's any interest in me doing one more run of Luke V2 lightsabers, but instead of the 3 piece construction of the emitter head, body and pommel, this one would be a single saber body construction. The advantage to doing a single body design is that I could probably bring my price down a bit. Maybe $150 for the saber body and transcriptor knob, instead of $175 for the emitter, body, pommel, and knob. The disadvantage is that you would no longer have the spinning emitter feature. But, since the original prop seems to have had that feature removed by the filming of ROTJ, with gaffers tape keeping the head in place, maybe some of you wouldn't really care too much if it saved you a couple bucks.

The pommel and knob would be oriented the way they were during most of the filming of ROTJ, with the knob and d-ring on opposite sides of each other. (So that the knob didn't bang into Mark's leg presumably).

Here's my CAD drawing for this proposed new run

In appearance, the saber would be identical to my second run. The only difference would be the emitter would not spin, the saber would not be hollow, and the whole saber would be a single part. You can see pics of my earlier runs here http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=244175

If you're interested in getting on board with this run. Please post here and I will make a signup list. As with my earlier runs.
I will not accept payment until I have all the parts in hand. However, I expect that if you sign up here, you accept that you have made a commitment to follow through on your purchase.

In order to sign up. You must post your commitment n the space below. IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY EMAILED ME, PMD ME, OR POSTED IN THE RESEARCH THREAD ABOUT THIS SABER YOU ARE NOT SIGNED UP. YOU MUST REPLY TO THIS THREAD BELOW TO SIGN UP.

Thanks guys

I´m not really into Luke´s machined sabers - can this be used with a Graflex clamp for the shared stunt?

If yes - interested.

Great, i was confused with the Saber that has the long lever on the clamp. I want the "shabby" with the holes drilled in the clamp and the standard lever.

Or do i mix something up here?

Interested! I keep kicking myself I didn't get in on the earlier runs.

I'm in either way, but if there's a choice I'd rather pay an extra $25 to have the more accurate 3 piece design.

This would be just the saber blank. You can add whatever clamp and lever you want.

anyone thinking, stop and just sign up!! your gonna regret it if you dont. if i wasn't broke, i'd jump on this

You may be mixing them up. This is a solid version of the V2 being offered. As far as being machined, BOTH the Hero and V2 were machined, though it's possible the V2 began as a cast that was then machined to its final appearance. The "shabby" one with the beat-up appearance and flaking paint is the V2 offered here—what Mark Hamill had hanging on his belt for the entire movie, and which appeared in 98% of scenes. It used a standard Graflex clamp, but with a longer, non-Graflex lever.

The Yuma stunt saber, later cleaned up to become the shiny new-looking Hero, uses a machined control box in place of a Graflex clamp, with no level present.

Considering getting in on this also. One quick question though, how would you be able to get the clamp on?

You may be mixing them up.....

Sounds like he wants the Shared Stunt saber. The Shared and V2 were cast from the same mold, so you will be really close. The V2 was cleaned up on a lathe though, the Shared has visible mold lines, most notably on the rings the two sides don't line up exactly, shifted slightly. The one here will be clean and not have that slight shift. You also will have the post at the end of the emitter, shared has a hole there instead.

No, i know that there were the hero with machined box and the Graflex clamp versions. ;)

I´m already in on Nicksdad (ROTJ hero) and Anakins (TFA) runs for their boxed versions

I´m only asking if this is useable for both Graflex clamp versions, as i don´t want to use it for the V2 with Roy´s long lever. I want one for making the shared stunt with the foiled clamp that has holes drilled into it (2 of around 10mm).

Correct.

I like it somehow idealized, so not having the roughness and offset is a good thing in my books. :D
The post can be easily machined away, and a hole drilled instead - as long as the body is the same (minus the idealized surface)

Sorry for confusing anyone - the short question is: Do both versions with graflex clamp have the same body dimensions?

Yes

If a version was available with the emitter hole drilled out instead of the post, I'd be interested in one of those. Happy with my V2 from the 2nd run.

Take off the clamp lever completely so you can spread the clamp more open and reconnect after it's around the hilt.

Yeah, doesn't always work. Extending the clamp that far can sometimes cause creasing, crinkling/ cracking in the finish. Tried it before and it failed. Not saying it can't work, because it can, but not worth $30-40 clamp when you can pay a little more to just slide it on.
