Limited Run Luke Skywalker The Force Awakens Lightsaber

Yes. I would recommend contacting Pastor Jedi. Or just getting some red and green plastic and cutting the triangles yourself

i was wondering if someone with 3d printing skills could print out the arrows, black button and maybe even the brass lid (of course print it and paint it the brass color) its times like this i wish i had 3d design skills... you guys that know how to work with 3d cad i envy you...

Well, you can probably print the lid in copper at i.materialise

I can make the copper lid but the rails are out of my league. I don't think I have a collet for a bit that small. They make T bits but I don't have any. I messaged Pastor Jedi for the triangles, Ill let you know what he says

I designed the black button and "rails" myself for my current hero saber and printed them through shapeways, shouldn't be too hard to redesign then for this one. And I think I have arrows left over from the last time I ordered them from PJ. So with any luck I'll be all set.

I plan on drawing up some arrows and black button and whatnot to print once I get the saber in my hands. If you'd like, I can send you the STL files which you can then upload to 3dhubs in order to find a local printer.

You can always learn Danny! It's not that complicated.
If I can help, please let me know. I think that the arrows can better be lasercut from acrylic sheet instead of 3D printed.

Whats everyone's thoughts in the black bars on the control box? Flat or Glossy? I'm thinking a cnc'd piece of copper and then using Cerkmark to etch the black bars on it. Would be really accurate as long as the work is lined up properly in the laser.

Don't know about this particular prop, but the finish on the hero saber's black button looks to be very similar to the rest of the black parts of the saber. I think satin is what people typically go with when painting those parts.

What size triangles does everyone think? I'm offering to buy them all of them off Pastor Jedi then ship to everyone in just a stamped envolope to save us all on shipping.

Also, this week I will best testing a couple ways to create the copper plate. I will be etching the black lines (CerMark) with a laser then CNC'ing them. If I can etch before cutting them on the CNC I will offer them to everyone.

I think the current size triangles that exist should be fine. Like the ones that come on the MR for example. If you need the measurements lmk and I'll get em for you.

Pastor Jedi sells two sizes. I think for the TFA saber, the larger of the two would be better. I sent him a message but haven't heard back. If you can get me a set, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Dan

Dan, I'll definately put you down. I'll open an INT thread tonight with details.

It sounded like he will be able to provide both sizes so it's buyers choice

thanks everyone for the kind comments! Roy i have been watching many tutorials online for 3d design. i bought a macbook pro last year and I'm more a PC guy... so its a whole new learning curve. once i catch up with everything i want to buy a good laptop that has a strong enough processor to handle the 123d design. then grab alittle printer and try my luck

i was thinking today what i can sell to raise some funds towards alittle printer i saw at the last comic con i went to, that way if i did work something up and get this all going i could supply the control box cover and black button...

i agree i prefer LED arrows or acrylic

Damn...two days in the country no internet and I miss the run. Well I'll be looking forward to a second run :cool

Interested in paying for a spot if you want to drop out of the run,
