Limited Run Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Run Full )

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

Payment sent Rudy! Thanks for doing this run. I can't wait to display this with my Hero and V2. I have been following this thread for a while getting ready to pull the trigger and I just couldn't hold out any longer. Glad I could get in on this run.

No polish. Thanks!

Re: Luke Shared stunt Version Lightsaber ( Pricing Now Uploaded )

I've just got to say that I'm extremely excited for this project. Several times a day I find myself checking this thread to see if there are any new developments. I think that I might try to install some electronics in this saber. I'm by default a static prop kinda guy, but I'm feeling the itch for some reason. I think it's because the very first lightsaber I ever owned was the POTF2 Luke saber toy ca. 1997 and now I want the big boy version :cool.

To my noob eyes, the multi-segmented design looks like it would be a bit easier to do an install than some of the other designs I've seen. Is this a fair assessment? I'm curious to see what installs you guys do. What components do you guys plan on using?

So pumped!

I agree. I keep coming back to look for updates over the past 2 days. If the internal size is the same as the SH Luke V2, I would think to use Goth's 3D Master Chassis for a crystal reveal. I put it in my V2 and love it. Unless someone specifically makes one for this hilt, I would way all my options out.

Even without an internal chassis, it would be easy to simply add a soundFX board, battery, toggle switch and speaker (all internally). Those are the four basic parts you need to have motion effects. You can even omit the switch if you're OK with connecting/disconnecting the battery each time you use the features. So apart from opening up the saber to turn on/off the board and remove the battery for charging, you have pretty much a static saber from the outside. Dead simple.

Next up you can add a momentary switch or two for finer control of the board's features. At this point you'll want something to mount switches in, like Rudy's switch holder for the clamp channel. Next comes a high-powered LED module & matching lens for the front if you'd like to attach a blade. You can stuff the speaker, battery and board into a chassis made from something as simple as PVC pipe, but I'm sure someone will eventually make a version-specific design that can be printed at Shapeways. When you have a chassis to mount stuff in you can install a DC power port for recharging so you don't have to remove the battery each time. Crystal reveal is the next step and I'm hoping Rudy comes through with something on that front later on.

So I don't know if I missed this but what time frame are we looking at this point?

Funny you should say that a few pages back I have posted progress. Just waiting for the saber to arrive before I progress. Its also my current most checked thread!

Chassis - holds all the electronics in a tidy and organised location.

Chamber - ornamental bling of awesomeness that simulates the core of the lightsaber.

I am working on the chamber but that's a future development that involves more than just me (stay tuned). The plan is for a composite chamber consisting of machined alloy, 3d printed metal parts, and laser cut disks. I have already got the costs for the laser cut disks, they are defiantly a go.

Chassis

Depending on how many are interested I will print at home. I can print them for a fraction of the price, I will use PLA. Shapeways run a business and have to pay overheads blah blah. I will load it to shapeways for people that choose to upgrade later.

A few have already messaged me about specs;
I will ensure it can hold a spark 2 or a Nano Biscotti. You will have to purchase either of these yourself.
I Import xpe2 LEDs from the states so your better to order them for yourself if your in the states.

Pack will include
28mm high quality speaker
2.1 recharge port
2x 2x4mm Micro tac/mom switch to fit in clamp
1x 3mm Green accent LED
Chassis for electronics
clamp switch holder
1.5 brass rod.

These are all designed to fit the chassis.

I will make a separate thread in the next few days to post progress and designs updates. I guess its only a month or so away to get our hands on these!!

It will not fit the Prizm and CF they are too wide. With the battery and card in the space available there is just not enough room, if you didnt want a chamber you could have the battery and card on top but this would reduce the plans for the chamber. How ever it will fit all of Naigons cards, eg spark2 and colour and igniter 2.

I'm so excited! Any updates Rudy?
or progress pics?

Looking at how much work you put into this I just feel like it will be the BEST saber ever.
No need to look at other versions, I'm done after this one :)

Any plans to design a chassis without the chamber so that an I2 can be used?

I'm thinking that I'm going to go the nano biscotte v3 route. The built-in power extender gives you flash on clash. I was thinking of having a sort of lime-green color with a light yellow foc. Which LED would be the best to achieve this?
