Limited Run Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 37)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Got mine today. Pommel is a very snug fit. Haven't tried to ram it in. Was slightly confused for a while about the assembly and where the bearing went… lol.

There seems to be a good amount of space inside the main body.Anyone planning to install a motor inside? Or make provisions to attach a carbon fiber blade? Light and sound?

Those who've received it will be busy painting...

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Hi there. I also had issues with the pommel going inside the main body, but some filing with a Victorinox knife and then sanding paper made it go inside.

As for the rod that attaches the emitter to the main body, I didn't glue it. I used a nut (or sort of) I had in my junk drawer to stop the round part at the right position, and then reinforced it with some aluminum tape, and then a wheel cap I also had there, and then some super glue (just in case :D), so it's very fixed now and won't slide through the rod. Here:

As for the stencil, I'm not sure you really need that; I only painted it all, and then started chipping off bits of paint here and there with a screwdriver, based on the ref pics. In the end I discovered that I had chipped too much paint, so I made some extra touches with a small brush, and then added a clear coating for sealing everything :D

Now this is the outcome:

If I can help any of you with further details, will be glad to do it.

Got mine yesterday! It's beautiful, thanks Dan! I'll be awaiting the tutorial. I also have to sand my pommel a bit, doesn't fit, and my graflex clamp is a bit wider than the card lol I might be able to go one more turn, buut

If you only need a half turn extra on your clamp, unscrew it all the way and rotate the nut 180. That will rotate the threading around to the other side so that the lever is tight in position back instead of forward.

May I ask what the OD of the rod holding the emitter onto the hilt is? I think I'd rather use a shaft collar to hold it in place inside of the hilt.

excellent thinking!

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Thanks! Turns out I'm a bit more than a half a turn away, there's a good 16th of an inch now that mine is on the saber, hmm. Also, is the smooth side of the lever rivet supposed to be facing out? I don't think that works with the lever on the right side.

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Can someone tell me the size of the grub screw to hold the pommel on?

Some visiting kids dropped it off my table,& I'm on my way to Lowe's to get a replacement. I have about an hour before we get there, since we're eating first, so any help will be appreciated.

I'd bring the screw with you to ur local hardware store, just try threading screws on it until u find the right pitch

Had to assemble it. Couldn't help myself.

so cool! I'm hoping my cards and levers come in this week along with the v2. still on a hunt for a graflex clamp though..

Pommel spins, emitter spins, it's awesome. I did have to do some sanding to get the pommel in. Don't fret it you have to also it was quick and easy work.

the screw is a M4

Might test fit these before packing them on the next run.

I put 3 or 4 of these together and everything fit fine, so I assumed all the other ones would. But it looks like some of the pommels came from a different cnc setup where the bottoms were just a little bit thicker.

But, it seems like everyone is doing ok with just a little bit of sanding.

With a sanding drum on my dremel I did a quick spin around the inside of the hilt, and then again around the part of the pommel that gets inserted. Followed that up by a quick sanding with 220 grit, and then 1000. Just a bit of elbow grease and it was perfect. Sand just a bit more than you might think you need. You can get it to be a tight fit, but then you might have trouble rotating the d-ring into whatever position you want to see it in. You can always lock it in place with the set screw, so tight isn't necessary.

I wouldn't ram it in. Use a little bit of sand paper around the bottom most lip and it should fit fine. You want it to be able to rotate once the set screw is in place.

I would like to finish off one of these as an OWK saber with a motor. But we'll see if that's a project that actually gets done.;)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Bummed that mine didn't come this weekend, even though I'm probably the closest to Dan and I sent payment on the first day he collected.

Oh well, here's hoping for tomorrow.

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

For the pommel is there supposed to be about a 2mm gap with the set screw in? Or do I have a lot of filing in my future?

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Yes. There should be a gap between the bottom of the saber and the pommel. You line up the set screw hole with the 4mm groove in the bottom of the pommel.

Just what I wanted to hear, thanks!
