Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Wooooooo

Just let off some items on eBay to fund this.

Bring it on!!

Also, will we be able to add a note to add a d ring with payment?

Thanks to the very kind Cayman Shen I am now on the list :)

In anticipation for this badboy, can someone point me in the right direction to the best source of screenshots and photos of the screen-used prop? Gotta start studying up on all the subtleties of the paint and weathering.

Try the original V2 thread! These pictures from celebration are the best images so far, but there are a ton a screencaps in that thread too.

What would the AFBB look like? Clean pommel, clean clamp, black on the rest? Would the rings be clean metal or blacked out too?

The CG renders on the first post of this thread should give you some idea of what an idealized AFBB version of this saber could look like.

I don't want to derail this at all but how interested would people be in a run of stencil decals (cut out in vinyl stickers) to help you get an accurate paint job? Similarly to how I did my Boba Fett helmet.

You'd basically peel it off the backing, position it on the saber, hit it with a black spray paint and peel the sticker off. Instant accurate weathering!
If people are interested I'll make an interest thread and start working on the files.
And if we can make this a collaborative effort I'd love to work with you on getting a few key measurements so it'll be guaranteed that they'll fit your saber perfectly.

That's a great idea!

Personally I think I'm just going to handle mine a lot and let it weather naturally, but if I were to want a weathered one, that sounds like the way to go!
egosheep you're right. bare clamp, bare pommel and bare grip rings. Maybe the nipple too

i spoke with a couple guys on the board about doing this. I was hoping that someone on the board, who's good with photo manipulation could make it happen. If you can pull this off. I'll buy one in a heartbeat. I think the 3 main areas where this would help would be the emitter face, the emitter body, and the booster section.

please make this happen :)

I'd be in for stencils.

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Just one comment to the pommel from "one replica" himself: "This pommel is final, but there are still room for minor tweeks if needed like angles and the outer diameter to improove accuracy, again IF needed."

Improve accuracy, IF needed? :confused

This one here is better. Just need Hamill to lay his hands on the pommel ;)

someone please compare these two runs on accuracy please. thanks!

@DarthDimitri

This one's better.:p

on the emitter. the thin neck part looks thinner than the picture though. They both look thinner than the original.. what makes this one better. i am looking for my first v2 and i want to get the most accurate one. can someone please compare these two runs for me.

(this one and the one on IRA http://imperialroyalarms.com/thread/...v2-run-rotj-v2 )

i am already in on the One replicas one with down payment but if this one is better and someone wants to sell their spot i would like it. thanks

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

Hi,

I've read the thread in the IRA and my oppinion is, this one here on the RPF is more clear about the process to gain the highest accuracy.
I don't get the feeling to know every thought of the model making which accessed one replicas mind during the process.
So when you read this thread and the other V2 thread here on the RPF you should get the feeling that Anakin Starkiller (saber), Roy (clamp lever), Slothfurnace (clamp card) asked every member for their oppinion and wheighed the oppinions very careful against their model and/or discussed them with everyone on the threads.

I think the one from the IRA will get a very nice V2 with enough room to become a great FX saber.
And this one here will get a very accurate static prop (until someone like slothfurnace proves us otherwise ;) )

on the emitter. the thin neck part looks thinner than the picture though. They both look thinner than the original.. what makes this one better.

That's because the real prop neck is wrapped in tape.

You can read everything is this thread: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=1862
